What is an emergency department volunteer?

Emergency Department Volunteers are individuals who assist hospital staff in the emergency department by performing non-medical tasks. Their responsibilities may include greeting and directing patients and visitors, providing comfort items, running errands, restocking supplies, and supporting the administrative staff. While they do not provide medical care, their presence helps improve patient experience and allows medical professionals to focus on clinical duties. Volunteering in the emergency department offers valuable exposure to the healthcare environment and can be a rewarding way to give back to the community.
