Location: UM Charles Regional Medical Center - La Plata, MD
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift Leadership Position
Overview
University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Manager to lead our Emergency Department team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated nursing leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care, fostering staff engagement, and driving operational excellence within a fast-paced emergency care environment.
The Nurse Manager is accountable for the overall clinical, operational, financial, and personnel management of the Emergency Department and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining departmental performance goals.
What You'll Do
  • Provide 24-hour leadership and oversight of Emergency Department operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff to promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, productivity, and departmental budgets.
  • Monitor quality metrics and implement performance improvement initiatives.
  • Support employee engagement, retention, and recruitment efforts within the department.
  • Promote a positive patient experience and service excellence culture.

Qualifications
Required
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Preferred
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, charge nurse, or nurse manager experience.
  • Emergency Department nursing experience.
  • Specialty nursing certification.
