Job description

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to join our Emergency Department team. In this hands-on patient care role, you will support nurses and providers in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality emergency medical care while helping maintain a positive patient experience. This position is ideal for candidates with healthcare experience who thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment and are passionate about patient care and emergency services.
What You'll Do
Patient Care & Clinical Support

Assist with patient care activities under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN)
Obtain and document vital signs, reporting changes to the primary nurse or provider
Assist with cardiac monitor placement and patient observation
Support providers during minor procedures and patient treatments

Diagnostic Testing & Specimen Collection

Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) accurately and efficiently
Collect specimens through venipuncture, finger sticks, heel sticks, and other approved methods
Place IVs within scope of practice for Ohio-licensed EMTs or Paramedics
Document procedures and results in the electronic medical record (EMR) system

Emergency Department Operations

Provide courteous initial patient assessment and support upon arrival
Assist with patient flow and coordination throughout the Emergency Department
Communicate critical patient care information to nursing staff and providers
Respond positively to department staffing and floating assignments as needed

Communication & Administrative Support

Coordinate nursing station activities and clerical functions
Communicate with ancillary departments, physicians, and outside facilities as directed
Serve as a communication resource during emergencies, STAT requests, and urgent orders

Compliance & Documentation

Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic medical record
Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies
Follow organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements including Joint Commission standards
