The Department Affairs & Operations Manager serves as an administrative and data operations lead for the Electrical & Computer Engineering Division within the College of Engineering. This position provides strategic and operational leadership across the department, including academic operations and data management. Working closely with the Department Chair and College leadership, the operations manager ensures that departmental decisions and processes are informed by accurate, integrated, and accessible data systems. The position serves as the department's primary liaison to the college offices for all department operations.

30% Work independently and collaboratively with centralized departmental specialists to collect, maintain, and analyze data related to students, faculty, academic programs, finance, and research productivity. Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of departmental data tracking processes and systems, including those related to personnel, enrollment, budgets, and research activity. Help ensure data accuracy, consistency, and appropriate handling across platforms such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and university enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, Elements), in alignment with established policies and reporting requirements.

25% Work closely with the Department Chair and Business Manager to support departmental budget planning, forecasting, and expenditure monitoring, ensuring alignment with university and college policies. Serve as cost center manager. Serve as departmental liaison to college-level business and administrative offices to manage day-to-day operations. Maintain accurate personnel records for students, faculty, and staff, and support core personnel processes such as onboarding, evaluations, and offer letter preparation. Coordinate and compile faculty summer research salary requests in accordance with established formulas for college review and process. Supervise and mentor departmental specialists.

20% Serve as the senior staff partner to the Department Chair, who retains primary responsibility for the overall administrative leadership and direction of the department. Coordinate and support daily operations and assist with the implementation of longer-term planning and strategic priorities established by the Chair. Act as a key point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and external partners on departmental administrative matters. Support the Chair in executing strategic initiatives, implementing policies, and managing departmental priorities, while ensuring alignment with college and university guidance.

20% Communications, & Collaboration; Serve as the primary liaison between the department and college/university offices, external partners, etc; Use college and institution programs (ie SharePoint, Teams, email) for efficient communication, document sharing, and project management.; Represent the department in meetings and committees.; Facilitate organized communication between faculty, staff, students, college teams, and external partners.

5% Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
