Job description

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full time Naval Elevator Technician IV in San Diego, CA.
Summary: This position will work closely with Ship's Force, Government and contract personnel to provide electrical technical support for the US Navy ships. This position will include assessing and repairing all electrical aspects of shipboard elevators, dumbwaiters and conveyors in a shop and shipboard environment. This position supports aircraft carrier elevator maintenance at North Island Naval Air Station.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical support and assistance on electrical systems and components, supporting U.S. Navy shipboard weapons elevators, cargo elevators, and dumbwaiters.
  • Conducts research and provides drawings, technical manual information, design specifications, and engineering technical recommendations for the condition assessment, corrective action and the preventative measures to prevent electrical equipment related problems from reoccurring.
  • Assists with shipboard PMS accomplishment.
  • Uses a variety of precision measurement standards and instruments
  • Assists ships force with obtaining supply and repair parts information as required.
  • Provides technical assistance support on complex machinery controls system technical problems beyond the capability of ship's force.
  • Provides direct communication to ship's force representative that completely describes the electrical systems and component problem and solutions to correct.
  • Provides input and assist with process improvement procedures. assembles and installs equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Performs the necessary out briefs to ship's force representatives including ship's officers and supporting personnel as well as briefs to management within engineering department.
  • Understands and follow standard and specified safety procedures and operating.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum six plus years of direct experience working with the preventative / corrective maintenance and troubleshooting of shipboard weapons elevators, cargo elevators, and dumbwaiters systems
  • Ability to use drawings, prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to locate defective components and perform repairs. Work with published technical directives and equipment specifications which outline specific alignment and calibration procedures
  • Ability to attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly units, using hand tools and power tools as instructed and other duties as assigned by their supervision
  • Knowledgeable of Navy tag-out, standard troubleshooting techniques, and Navy Quality assurance practices
  • Knowledge and experience in military terminology procedures
  • Knowledge of standard items, test procedures and test memos

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM)
  • Experience with quality assurance
  • Prior Craftsman 301 qualification
  • OSHA 10 certification

  • Regular Communication (hearing and speaking)
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting of heavy objects
  • Ability to go aboard ships, barges and other naval craft
