Job description

Electrical Purchasing Manager

Lone Star is looking for a skilled electrical purchaser to buy goods and services necessary for our business operations. The goal would be to raise our profits by making the most high-quality and cost-effective purchases. Primary responsibilities include applying the knowledge of construction & electrical practices, labor costs, and the uses and costs of materials to review project estimates, budgets and production schedules.

Daily Activities

  • Develop profitable purchasing strategies
  • Assess supplier profiles and analyze offers
  • Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
  • Review supplies to ensure quality
  • Monitor stock levels
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports (revenues, buying expenditures etc.)
  • Manage change order processing timeliness
  • Ensure change order and supplement compliance
  • Control spending on projects
  • Organize and maintain market-specific vendor and subcontractor lists
  • Ensure projects are managed to profit margin specifications
  • Regular process and progress reporting to senior leaders
  • Plan and perform detailed audits to confirm vendor compliance with contracts, change orders and purchase orders
  • Foster and enhance subcontractor relationships
  • Maintain ongoing communication with project staff with regard to subcontractors' performance
  • Develop comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the contract documents to ensure all procurement requirements within scope are accomplished within budget
  • Become and remain proficient on our services and the associated terminology.
  • Adhere to company employment standards and Best Practices
  • Provide the highest level of internal and external customer service at all times
  • Comply to all company policies and procedures
  • Any other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role
  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
  • Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and purchasing software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong analytical mindset
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • 3-5 years' experience
