Job description

Location: Tulsa, OK

Employment Type: Full-Time / On-Site

About Specific Systems

Specific Systems is a leading manufacturer of specialized, industrial-grade HVAC and environmental control systems engineered to perform in the world’s most demanding applications. From explosion-proof units for chemical refineries and offshore platforms to custom environmental controls for industrial shelters and military installations, our products are built to withstand severe weather, corrosive atmospheres, and hazardous locations.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize our end-to-end supply chain operations. In this role, you will lead procurement, inventory management, vendor relations, and logistics for complex, high-spec industrial HVAC manufacturing—utilizing Infor SyteLine (CloudSuite Industrial) as the core system for planning, scheduling, and inventory control.

Because our equipment operates in harsh and classified environments, you will manage a highly technical supply base—sourcing heavy-gauge metals, specialized coils, explosion-proof electrical components, industrial compressors, and environmentally safe refrigerants (including A2L transitions like R-454B).

Key Responsibilities

ERP & Material Planning (Infor SyteLine)

  • Serve as the functional owner for supply chain and procurement workflows within Infor SyteLine / CloudSuite Industrial.
  • Leverage SyteLine’s Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS/MRP) engine to generate precise material requirement plans, maintain accurate lead times, and optimize safety stock levels.
  • Manage multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs), item master data, engineering change orders (ECOs), and purchase order execution within SyteLine to support Engineer-to-Order (ETO) and Configure-to-Order (CTO) manufacturing.

Strategic Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with suppliers for specialized components, including sheet metal, coils, copper, electrical controls, explosion-proof motors, and compressors.
  • Develop resilient vendor networks to prevent single-source vulnerabilities and mitigate supply disruptions.
  • Audit and monitor supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, cost variances) via SyteLine reporting and vendor portals.

Inventory Control & Logistics

  • Direct inventory practices across raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods using SyteLine’s cycle counting and tracking modules.
  • Manage domestic and international inbound/outbound freight operations, ensuring cost-effective and compliant shipping.
  • Oversee hazardous materials shipping protocols for pre-charged refrigeration equipment containing classified refrigerants (e.g., IMDG UN 3358, DOT, and IATA regulations).

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing supply chain and purchasing team.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing to align material availability with shop floor capacity and production schedules.
  • Drive continuous process improvements, inventory turn optimization, and cost-reduction initiatives using SyteLine dashboards and analytics.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on industry experience).
  • ERP Expertise (Required): Direct, hands-on experience using Infor SyteLine (CloudSuite Industrial) for MRP, procurement, inventory management, and job-cost tracking.
  • Manufacturing Background: 5+ years of supply chain or procurement leadership experience in a custom manufacturing, heavy industrial, or engineered-to-order (ETO/CTO) environment. HVAC, refrigeration, or heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial HVAC components (coils, compressors, electrical panels, copper tubing) and hazardous-location manufacturing standards (Class I, Div 2 / Explosion-Proof) is a strong plus.
  • Logistics Expertise: Solid understanding of domestic freight, international logistics, and hazardous material/dangerous goods shipping protocols.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation skills, analytical problem-solving, team leadership, and effective communication across engineering, production, and executive management.
