Job description


As a Purchasing Expeditor, you will be responsible for supporting uninterrupted production by actively managing supplier open purchase orders for direct and indirect materials. Your primary duties will involve obtaining purchase order confirmations, expediting late or at-risk material, and maintaining accurate promise dates in Oracle. You will serve as the primary execution-level contact between suppliers, buyers, inventory control, and the production floor.
This role is focused on supplier execution, order follow-up, and system accuracy to ensure material availability aligns with production demand. By owning supplier open order management and expediting activities, the Material Expeditor plays a key role in reducing shortages and protecting production schedules.
Responsibilities
  • Manage supplier open purchase orders for direct materials supporting production demand
  • Obtain and maintain purchase order acknowledgements and confirmations from suppliers
  • Expedite late or at-risk materials and coordinate recovery actions
  • Maintain accurate promise dates, quantities, and notes within Oracle
  • Monitor shortage and exception reports impacting production
  • Communicate material risks and recovery plans to production, inventory control, and buyers
  • Escalate chronic supplier or delivery issues to leadership
  • Support resolution of shipping and delivery issues
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical standards

Requirements
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)

Education and Experience
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Prior experience in material coordination, expediting, or purchasing support is preferred.

Office and factory environment. Safety glasses required on the factory floor. Some overtime may be required. Location: Onsite, Fairport, NY.
