Job description

ACT is a custom machine design and manufacturing company seeking a Purchasing Manager with extensive experience in industrial purchasing and schedule adherence. This fast-paced role requires a candidate knowledgeable in sourcing and managing supplies such as sheet metal, structural metal, pipe, fittings, electrical and pneumatic components, and fabrication materials.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supply chain operations to ensure timely procurement and inventory accuracy in conjunction with the Inventory Specialist.
  • Communicate effectively and negotiate pricing agreements with vendors
  • Utilize ERP software for BOM's, order tracking, and data entry
  • Identify mechanical components via BOM's and sometimes drawings and technical specifications
  • Provide concise daily/weekly updates directly to company owners
  • Support long lead-time procurement to meet project schedules on time

Required Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in industrial purchasing
  • Proficiency with ERP software and Microsoft Office applications
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical hardware and industrial manufacturing supplies
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable vendor pricing
  • Typing speed of 40-50 words per minute and strong data entry skills
  • Effective communication skills for vendor interaction via phone and internet
  • Must pass a background check
  • Comfortable working alongside the company mascot, a large Labrador Retriever

Preferred Qualifications

  • Over 5 years' experience specifically in industrial purchasing roles
  • Advanced vendor negotiation and supply chain management expertise
  • Demonstrated ability in cross-department coordination and project schedule management
  • Highly punctual, proactive, and willing to extend work hours when necessary
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and contribute solutions that meet schedules and cost parameters
