Overview
As Engineering Manager, Electrical & Firmware, you will lead a team of electrical and firmware engineers responsible for developing and supporting innovative products from concept through launch.
This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership, people leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. You'll help guide engineering decisions, develop team capability, and ensure electrical and firmware teams are fully integrated into our product development process.
We're looking for someone who combines strong electrical engineering fundamentals with the ability to lead engineers, build relationships across teams, and drive execution through others.
This is an ideal opportunity for either:
  • An experienced engineering manager with a strong electrical engineering background, or
  • A senior or lead engineer ready to take the next step into people leadership

What You'll Do
Lead and Develop the Team
  • Lead a team of electrical and firmware engineers
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback
  • Support career development and technical growth across the team
  • Build team capability while creating clear ownership and accountability

Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Mechanical Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Quality, and Manufacturing teams
  • Help create a more integrated engineering organization across disciplines
  • Facilitate collaboration between electrical, firmware, and mechanical teams throughout product development
  • Resolve technical and organizational challenges that impact project execution

Guide Technical Direction
  • Review and approve engineering designs, architecture decisions, and technical recommendations
  • Provide technical leadership across electrical and firmware development activities
  • Support decisions related to system architecture, component selection, product performance, and reliability
  • Ensure engineering work aligns with product requirements, business goals, and development timelines

Support New Product Development
  • Lead the electrical and firmware portions of multiple active new product development programs
  • Support validation activities and successful product launches
  • Monitor project progress and help remove technical obstacles
  • Partner with project leaders to ensure execution against schedules and priorities

Improve Product Reliability and Business Continuity
  • Lead efforts related to component obsolescence management and second-source qualification
  • Support cost reduction, quality improvement, and warranty reduction initiatives
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions when needed
  • Help identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and development efficiency

  • Electrical and firmware teams are fully integrated into the broader product development process
  • Strong partnerships exist between electrical, firmware, and mechanical engineering teams
  • New product development projects move efficiently through validation and launch

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in product development environments
  • Experience working with embedded systems, electronics, firmware, or connected products
  • Experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, or providing technical leadership
  • Strong understanding of product development processes and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred
  • Previous engineering management or supervisory experience
  • Experience leading electrical and firmware engineering teams
  • Experience working in manufacturing or industrial product environments
  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and hardware/software integration
  • Experience supporting new product development programs from concept through launch
  • Experience with component obsolescence management, validation testing, and product reliability initiatives
