Job Summary
Obsidian Labs is the applied innovation and rapid engineering division of Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG), dedicated to transforming emerging technologies into operational capabilities for defense, homeland security, energy, and commercial customers. Our multidisciplinary team develops advanced solutions spanning wearable sensor systems, autonomous platforms, immersive training environments, artificial intelligence, modeling and simulation, human-machine interfaces, and next-generation detection technologies.
Obsidian Labs is seeking a motivated and technically curious Electrical Engineering Intern to support the development of advanced electronic systems, sensor technologies, embedded hardware, and prototype solutions. This internship provides hands-on experience throughout the entire engineering lifecycle, including concept development, circuit design, PCB layout, system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and field demonstrations.
Requirements
Specific Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the design, development, and testing of electronic circuits and embedded systems.
  • Supporting schematic capture, PCB layout, and hardware documentation using modern engineering tools.
  • Assisting with sensor integration efforts involving chemical, radiological, environmental, positioning, and physiological monitoring technologies.
  • Conducting laboratory testing, validation, and troubleshooting of prototype hardware systems.
  • Supporting hardware assembly, soldering, wiring, and bench-top integration activities.
  • Assisting with power management, battery systems, and low-power electronics development.
  • Supporting data collection, analysis, and performance characterization efforts.
  • Participating in system integration activities involving software, firmware, and hardware components.
  • Assisting with technical reports, engineering drawings, test procedures, and design documentation.
  • Supporting field testing and demonstration events as required.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong academic performance and demonstrated technical aptitude.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on laboratory, maker-space, robotics, or engineering project experience.
  • Experience building or troubleshooting electronic systems.
