JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing, the Digital Content Producer develops engaging content for Winterthur’s owned social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and Spotify. This role captures and curates photography, writes captions, and produces videos and podcasts.

Compensation: $27.00 per hour

Work Schedule:  25 hours/week; variable hours including occasional evenings and weekends 

Responsibilities:

  1. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing, create social media content, including sourcing and capturing images, producing videos (podcasts are a bonus), and writing captions, aligning with an established editorial calendar, content strategy and brand persona.   

  1. Analyze data and performance insights to optimize content and strategies while maintaining and prioritizing brand alignment. Produce reports and provide creative input to inform future content.   

  1. Support influencer engagement strategy through outreach, database management, and content coordination.   

  1. Onboard, coordinate, and schedule internal, external, and volunteer photography/videography, ensuring contracts and releases are signed and filed appropriately.  

  1. Process final deliverables and store according to organizational standards.   

  1. Understand and implement content rights and permissions, sound digital asset management principles, and content reuse objectives. 

Minimum Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with ​3-5 years of professional experience in social media and content creation.

Preferred Experience: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or digital media production ​3-5 years of professional experience in digital content production in a museum environment, preferably with an in-house marketing team or within an agency environment.

Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Strong expertise in major social media platforms.   

  1. A highly discerning eye for photo selection and curation and strong editorial judgment. 

  1. Ability to work independently to produce content. 

  1. Remain up to date with trends and platform changes. 

  2. Ability to support both brand equity and revenue, balancing creative and strategic goals.   

  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on strong copy writing.   

  4. Strong photography and videography skills, including camera, lighting, and sound equipment. Podcast and drone experience are a plus.   

  5. Deep understanding of storytelling, with the ability to interpret and deploy an established brand positioning.   

  6. Familiarity with analyzing social media data and insights.   

  7. Familiarity with digital asset management, metadata, rights, and permissions.   

  8. Significant attention to detail and excellent organization skills; ability to hold self and others to high standards.   

  9. Ability to deliver high-quality content in a fast-paced, flexible job environment and handle multiple tasks and details simultaneously. Manage multiple projects at once, while adhering to deadlines. 

  10. Outstanding verbal communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a variety of personalities diplomatically. Present work confidently, articulating the rationale behind the strategy.   

  11. Experience with mirrorless cameras, editing photos in Lightroom and Photoshop, editing and color-grading raw footage in Adobe Premiere or similar,, and basic audio capture.  

  12. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. 

  13. Passion for nature, art, and history. Genuine interest in Winterthur’s mission and in connecting audiences with its museum, garden, library, collections, and events.


Essential Functions:

  1. Some evening and weekend work to capture content for events. 

  1. Ability to operate photography equipment, including mirrorless camera (Sony FX30), audio equipment, lighting equipment, tripods, and relevant accessories. 

  1. Work environment is a blend of sitting at a desk and moving around the estate, indoors and out, to capture content. 

  1. Must be able to walk the estate on paved and unpaved surfaces in a moderately hilly terrain. 

  1. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.   

  1. Driver’s license is required as on occasion golf carts are used to move around the estate.
