Overview:

Under general direction, the Job Coach will be critical in supporting students participating in work-based learning and the Illinois Youth Investment Program Grant within the Des Plaines Valley Region. The Job Coach will guide students through essential career readiness skills, including professionalism, job searching, and interview techniques, while ensuring effective collaboration among schools, employers, and other community stakeholders

Responsibilities:

• Offer guidance and mentorship to students throughout their work-based learning experiences, including orientations, skill-building workshops, and regular performance evaluations.
• In a classroom setting, foster a supportive and enriching environment for students to develop professional competencies and gain real-world experience.
• Create strong partnerships with local businesses to support all elements of the College and Career Pathway Endorsements
• Responsible for inputting all student information into Illinois Worknet in compliance with the Illinois Youth Investment Program
• Assist in creating a career plan for students, catering to additional needs with which the student might need assistance (i.e., child care, transportation, tutoring).
• Assist students with completing necessary paperwork and assessments related to their participation in work-based learning.
• Monitor and evaluate students throughout their work-based learning placement
• Act as the liaison between industry partners, DVR, and the high school
• Assist in collecting feedback from students, employers, and supervisors to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
• Attend meetings and training as required by DVR and participating schools to stay informed about program expectations and updates.
• Attend weekly Job Coach meetings to ensure proper communication between all Team Members
• Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills, knowledge of career readiness practices, and understanding of relevant policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Human Resources, or a related field (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
• Must be willing and able to apply for a Career and Technical Educator license
• Experience working with high school students, preferably in career counseling, workforce development, or education.
• Must be able to be onsite on Fridays to conduct weekly workshops for students
• Ability to work independently, with the flexibility to travel to job sites as needed.
• Knowledge of the local job market, industry trends, and regional employers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and support students, employers, and stakeholders.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask.
• Familiarity with career and technical education and youth employment services is desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to high schools, employer sites, and community meetings.
