Job description

Low Voltage Cabling Technician (NYC)

Location: New York City (Manhattan, Bronx,

Queens, Brooklyn)

Job Type: Contract / Contract-to-Hire

Pay: (based on experience)

Overview

We are hiring Low Voltage Cabling Technicians to support

commercial construction and infrastructure projects throughout NYC. This role

focuses on structured cabling installations in fast-paced environments

including offices, healthcare, data centers, and large-scale builds.

Responsibilities

  • Install, route, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling
  • Perform rack and stack, cable dressing, and pathway installation (J-hooks, ladder rack, tray)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and floor plans
  • Label, document, and test cabling using certification tools
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues and repair cabling systems
  • Build out telecommunications rooms (IDF/MDF) and install equipment
  • Follow NYC job site safety requirements and coordinate with other trades
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and documentation

Requirements

  • 1–5+ years of low voltage / structured cabling experience
  • Experience with copper and/or fiber installations and terminations
  • Ability to read prints and understand cabling standards
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and active construction sites
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30
  • NYC SST Card
  • BICSI certification (a plus)
  • Experience in commercial construction or data centers

Work Environment

  • Commercial construction projects, renovations, and active job sites
  • Work may include nights, weekends, and overtime depending on project needs
