Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Technician to support a high-visibility federal mission focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced Physical Security Engineering and Electronic Security Systems (ESS) for a secure government environment. This position is based onsite in Wahiawa, HI , where the selected candidate will work alongside systems administrators and network engineers to support mission-critical security infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with access control systems, CCTV, intrusion detection, installation design packages, and secure facility engineering within DoD environments. SIGN-ON BONUS OFFERED | TS/SCI CLEARANCE REQUIRED (SCI Eligibility Required | Ability to Obtain CI Polygraph) Key Responsibilities * Design, install, test, and maintain Electronic Security Systems (ESS), including Access Control Systems (ACS), Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). * Develop and validate engineering drawings in accordance with DoD engineering standards and practices. * Provide engineering support through technical reviews, product selection, customer site surveys, system design, technical documentation, and implementation of physical security solutions. * Conduct and lead site surveys to assess customer requirements and recommend security system enhancements. * Lead design reviews and provide technical recommendations to improve system performance and reliability. * Troubleshoot and maintain Lenel access control systems, security hardware, and associated software. * Evaluate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products and identify replacement solutions for end-of-life (EOL) equipment. * Maintain accurate As-Built documentation for fiber optic infrastructure, CCTV, IDS, ACS, head-end equipment, and other Electronic Security Systems. * Develop Installation Design Packages (IDPs) compliant with SIPH standards for PACS, IDS/PIDS, Video Management Systems (VMS), and other low-voltage security systems supporting highly secure environments. * Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support ongoing installation, maintenance, and modernization efforts. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience; OR 10+ years of equivalent professional experience without a degree. * 5+ years of experience developing Installation Design Packages (IDPs) and Base Electronics Systems Engineering Plans (BESEPs). * 5+ years of experience conducting site surveys, managing systems installations, and supporting field operations for IT and electronic security systems. * Hands-on experience with Lenel access control systems and products. * Experience supporting Axis video surveillance solutions. * Experience administering Windows 11, Windows Server 2022, and Windows Server 2025 environments. * 3+ years of experience leading or managing technical personnel. * CompTIA Security+ certification required.
* Ability to work onsite in Wahiawa, Hawaii.
Nice-to-Haves * Experience supporting Physical Security Engineering within DoD or classified environments. * Knowledge of SIPH-compliant Installation Design Packages. * Experience supporting PACS, IDS/PIDS, VMS, and enterprise electronic security infrastructure. * Experience supporting fiber optic infrastructure and low-voltage system deployments. * Familiarity with secure government facility construction and modernization projects. Soft Skills * Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across physical security and electronic systems. * Ability to independently manage engineering projects from design through implementation. * Excellent communication skills with both technical teams and government stakeholders. * Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and overseeing technical personnel. * Self-motivated and capable of supporting multiple priorities in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.
