Job description

About the Position: As a Striker Diesel Electric aboard a diesel/electric powered, self-propelled Class I pipeline dredge.
The duty location will be wherever the Dredge Jadwin is located.
This position is a Permanent, Full-Time, Seasonal Appointment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) 2nd Assistant Engineer PLD CL 1 without more than normal supervision Duties include: Assisting in the maintenance of engines and auxiliary equipment, operating equipment controls, reading and checking gauges; and interpreting technical manuals or specifications. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen Out
  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Use of Measuring Instruments
  • Physical Effort: Considerable physical and mental concentration is required during both machinery operation and lubrication. The work requires continuous standing on the metal decks of the engine rooms and frequent bending and stooping.
  • Working Conditions: Work is primarily in hold of mat boat where-noise, is intensely disagreeable and there is danger of electrical shock and burns.
