Job description

Objective
To provide persuasive, faith-informed donor communications to support the team during high-volume fundraising seasons, ensuring timely delivery of donor proposals and impact reports that align with the organization's mission and spiritual identity.
Profile Overview
This writer will support marketing and fundraising workflows by crafting ~1,000-word donor proposals and follow-up impact reports based on raw field materials such as partner reports, trip notes, imagery, and budgets. The ideal writer brings strong persuasive writing skills, an understanding of biblical and Catholic teaching, and the ability to weave spiritual themes seamlessly throughout donor-facing communications. They must be able to identify the most compelling elements of field stories and elevate them into motivating donor narratives.
Scope
  • Project-based support, with heavier involvement between April-July during the proposal development ramp-up before the fiscal year reset.
  • Test project to be completed first.

Responsibilities
  • Review raw field documentation (reports, notes, budgets, photos) to extract the most compelling narrative elements.
  • Write structured donor proposals following the established template-including highlights, partner introduction, project description, theme development, and call to action.
  • Craft six-month donor updates, summarizing how gifts were used with clarity and emotional resonance.
  • Weave biblical references or Catholic spiritual truths throughout the narrative as appropriate.
  • Select supporting images and write concise, meaningful cutlines.
  • Ensure smooth transitions and theme consistency throughout the piece, maintaining persuasive momentum in a limited word-count format.
  • Adapt tone and message to donor motivations, emphasizing human-centered storytelling.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in persuasive or donor-focused writing.
  • Ability to synthesize raw, technical, or field-based information into polished narratives.
  • Strong thematic development and narrative cohesion skills.
  • Excellent research and interpretation abilities.
  • Clear, concise writing style suitable for high-impact fundraising materials.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams and follow structured templates.
  • Familiarity with biblical foundations and Catholic teaching (like the Apostles' Creed) to authentically integrate spiritual themes into writing.

About the Client
The client is a global humanitarian organization partnering with local leaders, ministries, and community members around the world to meet urgent needs through housing, education, food security, medical care, clean water, and more. Their work emphasizes dignity, faith, and service, and their donor communications reflect those values.
