Position Title: EHS Systems & Documentation Engineer

Department: EHS

Reports To: EHS Manager

Location: Jeffersonville, Indiana

The EHS Systems & Documentation Engineer (Environment, Health & Safety) is responsible for developing, managing, organizing, and continuously improving the sites EHS Documentation systems, technical procedures and data reporting processes.

This position ensures that EHS documents, procedures and records are accurate, standardized, accessible and audit ready, while also supporting EHS performance tracking through structured data analysis and performance.

Responsibilities:

EHS Document Control & System Management

Develop and maintain the site-wide EHS document control system, including policies, procedures, SOPs, manuals, and records

Establish and enforce:

Document version control Approval workflows Distribution and access controls

Maintain centralized document repositories (e.g., SharePoint or DMS platforms)

Archive obsolete documents and ensure traceability of revisions

Ensure documentation is organized, searchable, and audit-ready

Technical Writing & Procedure Development

Lead development of clear, accurate, and standardized EHS procedures, including:

Operating procedures Safe work practices Process safety documentation (e.g., PSI support documents, SOPs)

Translate technical inputs (engineering, operations, P&IDs) into usable field procedures

Standardize document formats, templates, and writing style across the EHS function

Review and improve existing procedures for clarity, consistency, and usability

EHS Systems & Process Standardization

Support implementation of structured EHS management systems (PSM, ISO-aligned frameworks, internal standards)

Develop standard templates, workflows, and tools to ensure consistency across departments

Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Maintenance) to ensure alignment of documentation

Drive continuous improvement of document workflows and system efficiency

EHS Data Management, Analysis & Reporting

Develop and maintain EHS data tracking systems and dashboards

Collect, validate, and manage EHS performance data related to:

Safety observations Incidents and near misses Corrective actions Leading and lagging indicators

Generate routine EHS performance reports, including:

Weekly EHS reports Monthly departmental performance summaries KPI dashboards for leadership review

Analyze trends to support risk identification and performance improvement initiatives

Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and traceability

Audit Readiness & Internal Support

Maintain EHS documentation readiness for internal audits and corporate reviews

Support audit preparation by ensuring required documentation is complete, current, and properly controlled

Track document updates and maintain revision logs

Training & Communication Support

Ensure employees have access to current and approved EHS documents

Support development of training materials related to procedures and systems

Communicate document updates and changes to relevant stakeholders

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety, or related field

2-5 years of experience in EHS systems, document control, or technical writing in industrial/manufacturing environments

Strong technical writing and document standardization skills

Experience with:

Document Management Systems (SharePoint, ETQ, Intelex, etc.) Data tracking, analysis, visualization, and reporting tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI preferred)

Working knowledge of EHS frameworks (OSHA, ISO, PSM concepts)

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Skills:

Experience supporting PSM documentation (PSI, SOPs, procedures)

Familiarity with manufacturing process documentation (P&IDs, process descriptions)

Ability to structure and present data for leadership decision-making and departmental reporting

Experience building dashboards or automated reporting systems

Working Conditions:

Primarily industrial/manufacturing facility environment.

Will require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

Hazardous materials environment.
