Job Summary

This position is designed for licensed insurance professionals looking to grow their sales career with a trusted industry leader. The Insurance Agent Trainee role serves as a pathway to a Sales Agent position. Upon successful completion of the training period, the Agent Trainee will be reclassified as a Sales Agent.

This position works exclusively within a District Office and is responsible for conducting sales activities, appointments, and inspections both onsite and offsite as directed by the Insurance Business Manager (IBM). Agents sell Club memberships and insurance products in support of Club growth, profitability, and service quality objectives. The Agent Trainee educates members on available services and insurance products while ensuring all documentation is completed accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner. Agents are expected to adhere to underwriting rules and guidelines to support company underwriting objectives.

Job Duties

Sell insurance products utilizing the fundamentals of Successful Sales Calls (SSC). Quote rates, qualify applicants, inspect vehicles or property, and complete documentation in accordance with underwriting criteria, procedures, and quality standards.

Sell Club memberships, promote Club services and products, and provide information regarding membership and insurance offerings.

Execute a successful sales strategy by developing leads and contacts while leveraging company provided opportunities. Effectively manage time, organize information, capitalize on sales opportunities, maintain expertise in Club products and services, communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, and continuously strengthen closing skills.

Maintain an acceptable product mix and maximize cross sell opportunities to enhance overall product penetration.

Ensure accurate rating and underwriting information is applied to new policies based on customer disclosures, current underwriting guidelines, and completed documentation.

Provide policy service to Club members in person, by phone, and through written correspondence. Complete insurance and membership forms to update, amend, or cancel existing policies and membership records while maintaining accurate transaction documentation.

Collect membership and insurance payments and maintain proper security and accountability when handling Club funds and receipts.

Attend meetings, training workshops, and seminars. Complete timecards, expense reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time. Adhere to scheduled duties and activities as directed by management.

Identify cross sell opportunities based on member needs and service requests. Strengthen member relationships by expanding product usage and provide qualified sales referrals to insurance, travel, and other departments as appropriate.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

1 to 3 years of insurance sales and/or service experience preferred.

Strong oral and written communication skills required.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

Demonstrated competitive drive, persistence, and goal oriented mindset required.

Strong organizational skills required.

Active Property & Casualty Insurance License in the selling state required.

Valid driver's license, acceptable motor vehicle record, and minimum required liability insurance required.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel to offsite business meetings or conferences (approximately 5%).
