Job description

Merchants Bank Equipment Finance, located in Edina, has an opening for a Document Transaction Associate.

This position will focus on documentation and staff administrative support.  Duties include entering applications, document preparation, working with contract closing and booking, and funding.  It also involves file processing, scanning documents, follow-up on title and insurance and a being a back up customer service team member.  There is potential room for growth and learning in this role.

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, a positive and helpful attitude when working under deadlines, and proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs.  Prior experience in lending, equipment finance, and banking preferred.  Strong analytical, problem-solving skills desired.

Job Summary:

The position is structured as a dual role focusing on documentation closing and staff administrative support. An understanding and adherence to Merchants Bank Equipment Finance (“MBEF”) and Merchants Bank (“MB”) policies and procedures is critical for success in this role.

Primary Duties:

  • Assist in the documentation process for vendor transactions originated by MBEF’s sales team and approved by MBEF’s credit underwriting team or MB credit committee.
    • Entering applications.
    • Document preparation.
    • Contract closing.
    • Funding the vendor.
    • Contract booking.
    • Transaction review.
  • Administrative support to the MBEF Document Transaction Team.
    • Wet ink file processing.
    • Document scanning.
    • Title follow-up and processing.
    • Insurance follow-up and processing.
    • Community Reinvestment Act documentation processing.
    •  End of Lease letter processing.
    • Backup customer service team member.
    • This position will assist the Document Transaction Manager, as needed, in traditional equipment finance administration functions and completing other administrative activities as needed.
  • Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Employee will be expected to contribute to a positive working environment through words and actions.
  • Employee will be expected to greet internal and external customers in a friendly and outgoing manner.
  • Employee will be expected to take responsibility to ensure that internal and external customers receive outstanding customer service.
  • Employee may be asked to perform other duties as required by business needs.
  • Employee will be expected to complete compliance and product knowledge assignments in a timely manner.

Working Conditions:

Work will primarily be performed inside working environment, low noise level, comfortable physical conditions.

Physical Demands:

Work will be performed primarily sitting at a desk, very low degree of lifting. Requires average finger dexterity to operate normal office equipment, such as computer, adding machine, etc. Requires good eye/finger coordination.

Mental Demands/Education:

Requires High School Degree. Prior experience in lending, equipment finance, and banking preferred. Strong analytical, problem solving skills desired. Requires individual with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to express ideas in a clear, thorough, and concise manner.  Must possess a positive and helpful attitude with the ability to meet deadlines.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite programs.

Relationships:

Responsible to the Document Transaction Manager for fulfillment of duties, responsibilities, authority, and for proper interpretation.

Will have a high degree of contact with other MBEF and MB personnel and direct personal contact with customers. Must have the ability to develop customer rapport and must show genuine interest in others’ needs and opinions.
