The Dockhand is responsible for assisting the marina team in order to serve marina customers and guests by performing a variety of tasks including but not limited to general operation of the docks and assisting boaters. The Dockhand must work to maintain a safe and clean environment throughout the harbor and marina facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide SHM members with the best experience possible
  • Greet all customers in a manner that expresses a kind, courteous and professional character
  • Help orient members and guests to the marina, facilities, and answer other commonly asked questions
  • Assist customers with general boating needs
  • Maintain and clean restrooms, docks, walkways, grounds and other areas designated by management
  • Ensure docks and equipment are operational at all times
  • Comply with OSHA regulations, environmental regulations, and adhere to all site rules and expectations
  • Availability to work overtime when required
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

Technical and Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work safely around the water
  • Must be able to swim
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Basic boat handling skills preferred
  • Previous marina experience preferred
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Any skills considered standard that a Dockhand should possess
