Job description

**THIS POSITION IS INCUMBENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD**

Longeviti is searching for a Dock Master with an active Top Secret clearance and at least three (3) years of experience in Loading Dock Operations to support the DIA at DIA Facilities in Reston, VA.

DESCRIPTION:

  • The Dock Master is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all inbound and outbound dock operations to ensure efficient flow of trucks, materials, and personnel. This role manages dock scheduling, assigns dock doors, and controls yard and dock congestion to meet operational timelines. The Dock Master supervises loading and unloading activities, including staging, seal control (as applicable), and verification of shipment counts and condition. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate dock logs and documentation such as arrival and departure times, bills of lading, delivery receipts, transfer/turn-in paperwork, and discrepancy or damage reports.
  • The position requires a strong working knowledge of OSHA-aligned dock safety practices, including the use of dock plates and levelers, wheel chocking/restraints, trailer inspections, pedestrian safety, spill response, and enforcement of PPE requirements. The Dock Master has the authority to halt operations in unsafe conditions and is responsible for documenting and reporting incidents. Familiarity with chain-of-custody procedures, signature controls, and site access requirements is essential.
  • This role serves as a central point of coordination between schedulers, dispatch, warehouse staff, drivers, and security personnel, requiring strong communication and organizational skills. Basic proficiency with email and spreadsheets is needed for reporting and status updates. The position also requires experience in safety management and HAZMAT handling to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and safe handling practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience coordinating inbound/outbound trucks, assigning dock doors, managing yard/dock flow, and controlling congestion to meet schedules.
  • Ability to plan and supervise loading/unloading activities, including staging, seal control (if used), and verification of counts/condition.
  • Experience maintaining dock logs and records (truck arrival/departure times, bills of lading/ delivery receipts, transfer/turn-in paperwork, discrepancy and damage reports).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA-aligned dock safety practices (dock plates/levelers, chocking/wheel restraints, trailer inspection, pedestrian control, spill response, PPE enforcement).
  • Ability to stop work for unsafe conditions and document/report incidents. Familiarity with chain of-custody/signature controls and controlled access procedures as required by the site.
  • Ability to coordinate with schedulers/dispatch, warehouse staff, drivers, security/access control, and designated representatives.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES:

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in loading dock operations, warehouse shipping/receiving, or transportation terminal operations in support of DoD or military.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, Safety Management, HAZMAT regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and basic proficiency with email and spreadsheets for reporting and status updates.
