Job description

Overview
Oversees all equipment and fleet related activities with regards to acquisitions, disposals, rental approvals, inventory, negotiation, maintenance, dispatch, and monthly billing of Division equipment fleets and materials.
What you will be doing
  • Sources all services, materials, maintenance providers and heavy equipment for projects in one or more District operations.
  • Supervises and directs activities for heavy equipment and maintenance personnel.
  • Works with Flatiron Procurement and Legal negotiating contracts, purchase agreements and maintenance service solutions to support corporate objectives in alignment with Flatiron national agreements where possible.
  • Manages and monitors all heavy equipment functions for Division operations, including maintenance and repair scheduling, equipment acquisition thru disposal.
  • Arranges minor repairs and transportation of equipment to and from the jobsite(s) as necessary.
  • Analyzes equipment needs and determines equipment repair expenditures, escalating to the Vice President of Equipment for approval, as necessary.
  • Reviews and understands contract agreements and payment terms.
  • Monitors utilization of equipment, material usage, and hours to identify cost savings opportunities and accuracy for monthly billings. Reports utilization to division operations or project leadership within prescribed frequency to support business objectives and cost control.
  • Leads inventory procedures and tracking for entire division, all yards, and all Flatiron project sites.
  • Recommends disposal for equipment based on poor utilization, total machine hours, excessive repair, and/or operating costs.
  • Provides financial performance reports to Divisional Leadership.
  • Maintains knowledge of Company's values and strategic plan.
  • Support published corporate policies.
  • Perform additional assignments per management's direction.

What we are looking for
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Diesel Technology, Asset Management, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 10 + years of Heavy Equipment Management experience required.
  • Field and or shop maintenance and repairs experience required.

Certifications and/or Licensing Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current/active member of the Association of Equipment Management Professionals "AEMP" that has been awarded an "CEM" Certification of Equipment Manager" rating preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proven leadership, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical and tracking skills.
  • Expert in equipment regulations regarding licensing, registration, environmental guidelines, etc.
  • Coordination and multi-tasking skills.
  • Skilled in working weekly with the Corporate Equipment Team on annual budgets, acquisitions, disposals, fleet needs, and US DOT business.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow through and derive outcomes with stakeholders.
  • Familiar with rental and lease process and contract language.
  • Able to identify issues and recommend solutions to field operations and divisional management.
  • Knowledge of JDE Edwards Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or similar financial tracking system(s) including annual inventory and budgeting ability.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Adobe.
  • Ability to compose presentations for equipment training classes to field operations, monthly cost report dashboards, and other items requested by leadership.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols and ability to adhere to company policy regarding safety for self and teams.
  • Ability to compose IWP Integrated Work Plans, JHA Job Hazard Analysis, and or DRA's Daily Risk Assessments.
  • Knowledge of Change of Conditions and addressing challenges of inclement weather, dayshift verses nightshift operations, working in or near hazards of active runways, elevated structures, water work, extended shift hours.
