Both Diving Coaches and Swimming Coaches work in aquatic environments and require CPR and First Aid certifications. However, Diving Coaches specialize in training athletes in diving techniques and safety, often working with diving-specific equipment and facilities. Swimming Coaches focus on teaching swimming strokes, endurance, and water safety. While their environments overlap, their training and skill sets are tailored to their specific sports.

What are the most common challenges faced by Diving Coaches when working with athletes at different skill levels?

Diving Coaches often work with athletes ranging from beginners to advanced competitors, which requires adapting coaching techniques to fit each individual's needs. A common challenge is ensuring that beginners build confidence and master foundational skills, while more experienced divers need tailored feedback to refine complex techniques and routines. Balancing safety, motivation, and skill progression for all team members is essential, and coaches regularly collaborate with other staff, such as strength trainers and sports psychologists, to support athletes holistically. Effective communication and patience are key to fostering an environment where all divers can progress and succeed.

What Does a Diving Coach Do?

A diving coach manages a diving team. They instruct athletes at a club or school, determine the requirements for team eligibility, and recruit new athletes. Other responsibilities involve keeping a budget, ordering and repairing equipment, scheduling practice time, organizing competitions, and fundraising. When working on larger teams, they also manage assistant coaches. A diving coach demonstrates various diving and swimming techniques, prepares athletes for competition, arranges transportation, and organizes accommodations for overnight trips. Some people in this career have the opportunity to train Olympians.

What does a Diving Coach do?

A Diving Coach is responsible for teaching athletes the techniques and skills necessary for competitive diving. They create training plans, instruct on proper form, supervise practice sessions, and ensure the safety of divers during training. Additionally, Diving Coaches provide feedback, prepare athletes for competitions, and often help with mental preparation and goal setting. Their role is crucial in developing both beginner and advanced divers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Diving Coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Diving Coach, you need a strong background in competitive diving techniques, safety protocols, and a relevant coaching certification, often supported by previous experience as a diver. Familiarity with video analysis software, pool safety equipment, and first aid/CPR certification is typically required. Exceptional communication, motivational skills, and the ability to provide constructive feedback help athletes improve and build confidence. These skills are crucial for developing athlete potential, maintaining safety, and fostering a positive learning environment.

You will act as the crucial bridge between our business stakeholders, our users, and our IT development teams. If you are a leader who enjoys advising business stakeholders on execution, managing support triage, and diving into product backlogs to ensure successful delivery, this role is for you.

This is a remote opportunity with candidate residing in one of the following locations,

Northeast: New York (NY); New Jersey (NJ); Pennsylvania (PA); Delaware (DE).

Midwest: Chicago (IL); Indianapolis (IN).

Southeast: Dallas (TX); Irving (TX); San Antonio (TX).

Travel expected at 30%, candidate must reside within 1.5 hours of a major airport and support East Coast (EST) working hours.

What You'll Do

Agile Delivery, Backlog Management & User Stories (25%)

  • Actively participate in Scrum meetings and product sprints to drive efficient development.
  • Manage the product backlog: organize, prioritize, and refine backlog items based on changing requirements and stakeholder feedback.
  • Guide your team in developing user stories that capture specific product features and functionality to direct the development team.
  • Decide which features each product iteration will include, ensuring strict alignment with client preferences and leadership's business goals.
  • Balance the prioritization of new feature development with the mitigation of technical debt and architectural improvements within sprint cycles.
  • Ensure the product backlog and requirements maintain alignment with the IT department's security, compliance, and API integration standards.

Support Triage & Issue Resolution (20%)

  • Establish and manage the frontline triage process for user issues, product inquiries, and technical support requests.
  • Develop support workflows and service-level agreements (SLAs) to empower users and streamline troubleshooting.
  • Ensure bug fixes and support escalations are effectively prioritized within the Agile sprint backlog alongside new feature development.
  • Coordinate directly with IT development teams for rapid technical resolution of complex escalated tickets.

Product Creation Oversight & Quality Assurance (25%)

  • Oversee all stages of product creation, from initial design and development through to testing.
  • Partner with the Platform Adoption & Enablement team to facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring technical requirements are met while capturing critical "voice of the customer" feedback.
  • Ensure the practice consistently delivers solutions that are creative, commercially viable, and grounded in a thorough understanding of client or business need.
  • Analyze competitor and industry trends to recommend new features that align with the established product vision.

Execution & Stakeholder Advisory (20%)

  • Act as a advisor to key business and client stakeholders on complex execution and technology challenges.
  • Implement the product vision defined by leadership, aligning features with market trends and user expectations.
  • Drive the execution of the product roadmap, prioritizing features to meet changing requirements and business objectives.
  • Own the commercial viability of solutions, tracking success against return on investment, cost savings, and revenue generation.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Synergy (10%)

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Business Solutions professionals, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Co-facilitate Product Advisory Boards to align the roadmap with enterprise client needs and gather direct feedback.
  • Partner directly with product marketing, operations, and enablement teams to execute seamless Go-To-Market (GTM) launches for major platform updates.
  • Report status, progress, and risks on a regular basis to project sponsors and key stakeholders.
