Job description

Yamaha is seeking to fill a District Service Manager role. This position provides technical support in assigned geographical areas of Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, for Retail Customers, Yamaha Outboard/Waverunner/Sport Boat Dealers, and OEM Boat Builders and may provide support outside of assigned geographic areas. This position should be able to address all levels of complex technical issues.

Whatyou'llbe doing:

  • Provide counsel to retail customers through assigned customer relation visits and Yamaha Marine dealers through assigned technical visits, also perform Call Center Duty as needed for all Marine products.
  • Support dealer operations through consistent communication via phone, email, text, and scheduled visits.
  • Train new Marine dealers in business operations and processes of Yamaha, including system books and libraries.
  • Plan and execute mini clinics and dealer development visits. Review reports to determine recommendations and suggestions for dealer improvement.
  • Communicate on items related to service issues by completing timely Yamaha Customer Relationship Management System (YCRMS) Reports, Monthly Reports and Market Information Reports.
  • Work with District Marketing Managers to improve the dealer network by coordinating assigned Boat Shows and responding to unassigned inquiries.
  • Develop and deliver product information presentations and lead seminars.
  • This is a remote position that requires approximately 75% travel. May be away from home for up to two weeks at a time.
  • Provide technical support for the corporate display at boat shows, OEM events, fishing tournaments, and other events, as required.
  • Manage a business travel budget, keeping current and accurate all required expense documentation and maintain company issued vehicles, equipment, and Yamaha supplies.
  • Works with minimum supervision.
  • Make independent decisions to support retail customers, Yamaha dealers, OEM Boat Dealer and improve the client relationship
  • Must be able to consistently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Excellent record in providing superior customer service on technical issues at a dealership, another division within Yamaha Motor Corp., or a boat builder.
  • Must have a proven record of good administrative skills and be able to utilize business software.
  • Good writing skills required.

What you need to be successful:

  • Associates degree (preferably in Marine Technology), orequivalent Marine industry Service certifications.
  • Minimum 3-5 years Marine industry Service experience, troubleshooting and repairing outboard engines.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in rigging and maintenance of boat fuel and electrical systems (may run concurrently with Service experience).
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook).
