The Concrete Dispatcher works directly under the guidance of the Dispatch Manager and his/her supervisor, the Region 1 Production Manager. He/she is primarily responsible for phone calls from customers and placing them into our computer systems. Responsibilities also include carrying out company objectives, policies, and principals as they relate to central dispatch performance.

Position Essential Functions Responsibilities

    • Receive telephone orders from customers in a polite, purposeful, and professional manner, ensuring integrity in all interactions.
    • Enter/Edit all orders in a timely, professional, and accurate manner.
    • Assist the customer in making the proper concrete mix selection and necessary associated products.
    • Promote efficient use of scheduling throughout each day.
    • Monitor the delivery schedule to ensure the timely distribution and delivery of concrete according to customer needs and requirements.
    • Communicate with mixer drivers, plant managers, and production managers to avoid or address issues, concerns, or problems.
    • Work closely with the Assets Department as well as 3rd party vendors to monitor truck availability to ensure superior customer satisfaction and maximum equipment and labor availability.
    • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable to ensure proper billing to customers and discuss/correct any recurring problems generated by the dispatch department.
    • Assist Plant Managers in monitoring trucks via GPS, especially pours that are taking too long.
    • Assist in making efficient use of fleet and plants by evaluating order service locations.
    • Perform various functions as directed by the Dispatch Manager including but not limited to:
      • Time and Attendance reporting
      • Creation of daily production employee schedules
      • Raw material ordering
      • Daily inventory management
      • Process credit card payments for COD order

Qualifications

  • Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to work at 6:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. but has flexibility for outside and overtime hours as needed
  • The successful candidate will have at least a High School education or equivalent, although a college education is preferred.
  • This person needs to have excellent and clear communication skills (bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus)
  • Be well-organized.
  • Have strong customer service skills.
  • Dispatching experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the concrete/construction industry is also a plus
