Job Overview:

The Dispatcher will be responsible for managing customer orders, scheduling, and dispatching drivers/trucks. This role will coordinate with drivers, plant managers, and the sales team to ensure timely deliveries. Strong communication skills and the ability to address urgent issues will help enhance customer satisfaction and support efficient operations.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve and process customer orders accurately and promptly.
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers, prioritizing tasks to meet customer needs effectively while maintaining fi-nancial efficiency.
  • Schedule vehicle maintenance, ensure drivers have necessary supplies, and coordinate with the mainte-nance team and vendors for timely truck and trailer repairs.
  • Assist in vetting potential new drivers for the company.
  • Supervisor drivers and other transportation team members, to help meet all tasks
  • Monitor driver hours of service using Samsara and provide guidance to drivers to navigate traffic and oth-er obstacles.
  • Provide customer support by understanding and addressing their needs, managing inquiries, and resolv-ing concerns professionally.
  • Coordinate with the railcar team and plant managers to maintain product inventory levels and availability.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to determine customer rates and service requirements.
  • Respond to inquiries and calls from drivers, customers, plants, and terminals in a professional manner.
  • Be available on call to address urgent dispatch issues.
  • Assist with additional tasks and projects as assigned.


Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in State and Federal DOT, FMSCA, and HAZMAT regulations
  • Ability to identify which chemical can be transported in each tanker class.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in dispatching and routing trucks, preferably with HAZMAT knowledge.
  • Relevant HAZMAT industry experience is preferred.
  • Class A CDL Hazmat driver experience is preferred.
