Job description

Are you a Telecommunicator who thrives in fast-paced environments? Do you have a knack for leading a team, clear communication and helping others? The Wake County Sherriff's Office is seeking candidates for our Senior Telecommunicator role to ensure the safety and well being of the citizens and visitors to Wake County. Be the voice that connects!

Primary Duties:

  • Serve as the front-line supervisor responsible for ensuring the effective daily operation of the Emergency Communications Center
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to Telecommunicators (Emergency Communications Officers) who receive and dispatch emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service on behalf of the Wake County Sheriff's Office, Wake County Animal Control and Wake County ABC Law Enforcement.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency and professionalism in call handling and dispatch functions while maintaining compliance with agency policies, state standards and credentialing requirements
  • Protect the public by fostering a professional, ensuring a supportive work environment, holding staff accountable, and ensuring that operations run efficiently under both routine and high-stress conditions
  • Strengthen responder safety and public trust by ensuring timely and reliable emergency communications services
