Job description

Job Title: Switchboard Operator I

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide telephone operator support. The contractor shall support continuous operations of commercial/telephone switches 24x7x365 (around-the-clock) and meet minimum key performance indicators as specified in Table 2 below. Duties include, but are not limited to:
    1. Publishing and keep current a site telephone directory;
    2. Managing and distributing to all customers by email a quick reference guide on telephone operations and features;
    3. Directory assistance;
    4. Call direction and call transfer between DSN and local phone lines;
    5. Support callers from other locations in SWA and shall act as centralized operators to assist other bases with directory assistance. The contractor will be responsible for contacting independent sites to obtain updated phone directories, as necessary

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED; AND

Experience:

  • Experience as a telephone operator handling overseas telephone calls, personnel locator service, commercial information services, customer support, conference calls, emergency calls, and maintaining call accounting databases; and experience as a telephone operator on switchboard consoles

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional classroom and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone, keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install/repair computer equipment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

  • Light to moderate lifting is required.

  • Be able to lift and move electronic equipment in excess of 40lbs in and out of classrooms, labs, and test center.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Workdays do not include working or conducting business on Federal holidays or when the Government facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar Government directed closings.
