Role and Responsibilities
The Senior Director of Marketing reports to the Verizon Account VP/GM and is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing marketing strategies for the Verizon account team, one of the largest revenue driving accounts in the world.
We're looking for a best-in-class marketer and a seller: someone with strong communications and negotiation skills, a data-driven mindset, and a passion to lead a high-performance account marketing team. To be successful, you will have experience having developed and managed marketing initiatives and programs, preferably in the mobile telecommunication field. You will possess leadership skills to hire, grow and develop your teams. You will be adaptive, an attentive listener, able to work in a fast-paced, highly competitive environment, collaborating with your cross functional colleagues both on the account team in NJ as well as our mobile headquarter located in Plano, TX while focusing on Verizon, as our customer.
You will champion our mobile products and work closely with your colleagues to help build marketing initiatives and design & execute programmatic activities that support product launches and on-going product lifecycle sellout at Verizon. You will bring your passion and creative thinking to improve our go-to-market processes and ensure all marketing programs are as efficient and effective as possible.
Our ideal candidate will have background and deep understanding of Product & Customer Marketing with a focus on performance metrics. You will possess knowledge about the mobile industry, mobile products, the carriers and their networks. You will have knowledge of principals that drive business such as budget management, supply and demand, price and promotion, and performance and analytics.
Position Objective
  • Be a positive, cooperative and proactive contributing member of the Samsung account leadership team.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement national and regional marketing plans balancing Samsung and Verizon's objectives.
  • Negotiate media funding based on sell-out metrics while maintaining a strong working relationship with Verizon's marketing team.
  • Serve as primary SEA marketing interface to customer's product marketing, marketing communications, and public relations teams.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the competitive environment. Formulate tactics to anticipate and respond to the competition.
  • Identify growth opportunities within Verizon's specific channels such as Company Owned Retail, Dealer, Care/Telesales/Call Center, Verizon.com and develop initiatives and programs to grow Samsung share.
  • Work closely with Category and Channel Sales to ensure Samsung revenue and share goals are achieved.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Business Operations and Strategy partners to secure funding for marketing programs through business case development and internal sell-in.
  • Contribute to PowerPoint slide preparation for marketing and product launch storytelling.

Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing or economics preferred.
  • At least 14+ years combined experience in product marketing, customer marketing, acquisition marketing experience in Consumer Electronics, CPG, Manufacturer, and Retail. Mobile telecom industry is a plus.
  • At least 5-7 years building and leading high-performance marketing teams.
  • An expert in customer/ channel marketing strategy with strong experience in leveraging consumer and shopper marketing insights, retention and loyalty strategy in order to drive win/win solutions with customers.
  • Proven performance in developing and executing strategies that deliver wins for the consumer, the customer and the company. Sales acumen a must.
  • Highly organized/detail oriented.
  • Polished and effective verbal and written skills.
  • Strong relationship management with key customer contacts.
  • Proven experience building and managing marketing programs that drive sales growth.
  • Proven experience leading meetings, organizing people and processes.
  • Ability to ideate new concepts and creative problem solve a must.
  • Above average MSFT office skills with focus on PowerPoint slide building.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat preferred.
  • Budget management and Excel proficiency.
  • Must be able to write, read, analyze, interpret, present, and explain mobile device technical product specifications when needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple assignments and projects.
  • Read and interpret marketing documents, media materials, and contracts (or related documents) based on corporate legal and marketing standards and philosophy.
  • Demonstrated competency in both oral and written communication modes for internal and external personnel at all levels, especially in the sales and marketing, logistical, or financial areas of clients, prospects, and company.

The salary range for this role is expected to be between $245,000 and $275,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
Regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) have access to benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Employee Purchase Program, Tuition Assistance (after 6 months), Paid Time Off, Student Loan Program (after 6 months), Wellness Incentives, and many more. In addition, regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) are eligible for MBO bonus compensation, based on company, division, and individual performance.
