The Opportunity

The Director, Program Management provides strategic and operational leadership for the Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) organization, guiding program execution, cross functional coordination, and operational readiness across major division initiatives. This role ensures project schedules, budgets, quality expectations, and regulatory requirements are consistently met while driving alignment across Division, Corporate, and global support teams. The Director partners closely with the GM of division to enable effective customer engagement, strategy, and future product development.

What You'll Work On

  • Providing leadership to a multidisciplinary team responsible for strategy, planning, and execution of division wide initiatives.
  • Overseeing the transition of Structural Heart (SH) processes into Electrophysiology (EP) - including outside U.S. and operations - requiring strong knowledge of Abbott systems, governance, and OEC processes.
  • Leading operational planning for new product launches, including capacity modeling, scenario planning, and resource recommendations to support commercial growth targets.
  • Evaluating production capacity and identifying opportunities to scale (e.g., staffing adjustments, facility utilization, manufacturing expansion).
  • Designing structured pathways for new programs by defining clinical, regulatory, operational, and commercial steps.
  • Translating early-stage opportunities into actionable development plans with timelines, cost estimates, and cross functional requirements.
  • Coordinating with FDA and internal regulatory partners to define trial design, approval pathways, and launch sequencing.
  • Establishing an effective operational structure, anticipating future capability needs, and developing team talent to meet those needs.
  • Setting ambitious goals and KPIs, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely execution of project milestones.
  • Managing the financial aspects of programs, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, Abbott financial policies, and the Code of Business Conduct.
  • Ensuring compliance with Abbott quality systems, regulatory standards, and local statutory requirements.
  • Providing regular updates to Division leadership, Corporate stakeholders, Program Management, Commercial, and the Project Steering Committee.
  • Collaborating closely with R&D, Commercial, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, and global marketing affiliates to ensure alignment and meet customer expectations.
  • Representing division goals with internal and external regulatory bodies when needed.
  • Recognizing early signs of risk or crisis and taking decisive corrective action, even when it requires changes to scope, timelines, or resource allocation.
  • Fostering open communication, encouraging knowledge sharing, and promoting a culture of transparency and collaboration across teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical, Science, or Business.
  • Minimum 10 years leading significant projects and/or teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience leading strategic, global business improvement strategies and initiatives, preferably across commercial and/or operations.
  • Experience implementing an integrated business strategy with cross-functional stakeholders preferably in Global Operations, R&D and Commercial teams.
  • Demonstrated ability leading global change management initiatives, including evaluating the impact of planned change, identifying and managing anticipated resistance to change, and developing communication plans relevant to change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate globally dispersed teams & align them to a common vision.
