POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director Software Quality Engineering is a senior technology leader responsible for establishing and executing on the enterprise vision for software quality across all applications, data platforms, and supporting frameworks. This role will lead the analysis, creation, implementation and governance of modern QE approaches, ensuring robust, scalable, and automated processes that deliver exceptional client-facing solutions. The Senior Director will drive innovation in testing methodologies, automation, performance engineering, quality process and delivery transparency reporting and quality governance in support of continues improvement.
DESCRIPTION:
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Implement the enterprise-wide strategy for Software Quality Engineering.
  • Champion modern engineering practices, including shift-left testing, continuous integration, AI based quality automation and DevOps alignment.

Quality Engineering & Automation:
  • Advance automation frameworks and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines for rapid, reliable delivery.
  • Drive adoption of performance engineering, security testing, and resilience strategies.
  • Introduce progressive testing concepts such as risk-based testing, service virtualization, and AI-driven test optimization.

Quality Assurance & Governance:
  • Establish governance for defect management, compliance, and risk mitigation across all platforms.
  • Ensure end-to-end test coverage for applications, data, ETL processes, and integrations, including load and performance testing guidance.
  • Define and enforce standards for documentation, reporting, and quality metrics.
  • Metrics & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and report KPIs for product quality health, engineering efficiency, and team performance.
  • Use data-driven insights to identify gaps and implement process improvements.

People Leadership:
  • Build and scale a high-performing global SQE team.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop technical talent.
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and a culture of excellence aligned with organizational values.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately convey information to others.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 10+ years in software quality engineering/assurance and 4+ in leadership roles.
  • Proven success in executing enterprise quality strategies in complex, multi-platform environments.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture and microservices testing strategies.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven testing tools and predictive analytics for quality.
  • Background in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, mortgage) with strong compliance knowledge.
  • Track record of leading enterprise-scale automation transformation
  • Strong verbal communication skills; strong writing and composition abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective and professional relationships across the organization and with customers.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Working on-site at assigned office location.
  • Regular and punctual attendance adhering to schedule established by leadership.
  • Flexibility to work occasional adjusted work schedules, overtime, and evening and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines or as business needs demand.
  • Working in a cubicle hub, maintaining focus on phone calls in a noisy environment within earshot of multiple other conversations.
  • Sedentary work in a stationary position at a cubicle for prolonged periods of time.
  • Constant repetitive motions required for operating a computer, such as typing and managing phone calls.
  • Constantly communicating effectively verbally in English, including accurately exchanging information with others following identification of correct procedures.
