Job description

New Tech Global is currently seeking an Electrical Application Engineer - BESS & Hybrid Power for a full-time opportunity in Houston, Texas.
Overview
The Electrical Application Engineer - BESS & Hybrid Power will support the application, integration, and lifecycle performance of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid power solutions. This position serves as a key technical resource supporting product development, engineering, sales support, project execution, commissioning, field service, and customer support activities.
Responsibilities:
Provide electrical application engineering support for BESS and hybrid power solutions.
Review customer specifications, bid packages, and project requirements.
Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams.
Support equipment selection and technical validation of batteries, BMS, PCS/inverters, EMS/SCADA interfaces, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
Respond to technical inquiries from customers, EPC contractors, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
Provide technical input during proposal development, compliance reviews, and risk assessments.
Assist with troubleshooting, startup, commissioning support, and warranty investigations.
Collaborate with R&D, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and operations teams.
Review supplier technical documentation and submittals.
Assist in developing engineering specifications, manuals, commissioning documents, and troubleshooting guides.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and product standardization efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in BESS, renewable energy, distributed generation, electrical equipment, power systems, or hybrid energy applications.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.
Working knowledge of battery modules, BMS, PCS/inverters, switchgear, transformers, controls, and protection systems.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel for customer meetings, site support, commissioning activities, and technical investigations.
Experience working with BESS suppliers, OEMs, EPC contractors, utilities, or renewable energy developers preferred.
Familiarity with EMS, SCADA, controls integration, and utility interconnection requirements preferred.
Knowledge of IEEE, UL, IEC, NEC, and NFPA standards preferred.
EIT, FE, or PE certification is a plus.
