Job description

Overview: Home and Community Based Services Programs Director needed to oversee Harris Hands Community Services, inc. waiver programs located in the Bronx, NY in accordance with the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities and Harris Hands guidelines and regulations. The ideal candidate is detailed oriented, task driven, experienced in OPWDD Waiver services and has a flexible work schedule to attend to the needs of the programs. This Waiver Services Director is able to work in a fast past environment and will ensure that all waiver services have proper oversight, staff are trained as per OPWDD regulations, help programs grow, develop new programs and supervise the program supervisors.

Job duties will include but is not limited to the following:

  • To provide oversight and ensure that the department is in accordance/compliance with OPWDD and Harris Hands Community Services, inc. regulations.
  • To facilitate one to one supervision with the staff on a monthly basis.
  • To facilitate and ensure staff trainings in accordance with OPWDD regulations.
  • To maintain ongoing communication with staff, participants, their families and Care Managers.
  • To Maintain and develop ongoing relationships with OPWDD liaisons and vendors.
  • To increase program rosters and enroll new clients into programs as needed.
  • To fill staff vacancies as needed.
  • To carry out other related duties as assigned by your supervisor.

The candidate must have the following skills, education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health / Human Services; Masters Preferred.
  • Previous Human Services/Supervisory experience (5 Years).
  • The willingness to travel within the Metro NY area and work non traditional hours as needed.
  • Great communication skills.
  • The ability to drive a 15 passenger vehicle.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Program development skills.
