Main Purpose of the Role:
Operations Manager tasked with implementing the direction, coordination, and evaluation of related operations for the USA and carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization/company policies and applicable Federal/Government laws. Responsible to assist as necessary in all negotiations of Operational Agreements with vendors and partners. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Specifically, to also take particular notice and handling of overview and reporting responsibilities for Norfolk.
Main Tasks:
Facilitating and providing guidance and coaching to management teams in Operations matters, directing staff on Operations functions.
Monitors and ensure compliance with shipping regulations. Directs the provision of pertinent material and support, including ship manuals and HAZMAT regulations.
Implements and directs all programs related to oversight of vessels, masters and crew members while within jurisdiction, including the provision of crisis support such as Med Evacs and downed vessels.
Develops and executes comprehensive operational plans and programs to support the achievement of company revenue and vessel/port services objectives.
Strategically plan operations strategies in support of organizational and industry goals and changes.
Monitor all ship and terminal operations.
Report on terminal and vessel operations in the USA specifically with reference to the VDR/ADR, Port Operations System and AMS reporting.
Coordinate ERD/Cutoff with ports and customer service.
Push terminals to perform with respect to gates and intermodal cargo.
Invoice vetting for the USA port operations.
Perform SAP signoffs in the system.
Requirements
Academic education: Bachelor's degree in Maritime studies or equivalent required.
Certification: Seagoing experience is a plus
Experience: Experience in the shipping/transportation industry in Operations or equivalent is highly preferred.
Experience using SAP preferred.
Vessel and Terminal Operations experience required.
