Director of Student Involvement

As a director of student involvement, you will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for student engagement at SCAD that aligns with the university's mission and values. Among other duties, you will provide visionary leadership for the office of student involvement and oversee the creation and management of diverse student programs and activities designed to meet students' unique interests and needs. Collaboration with various departments and student organizations is required to promote cross-functional engagement opportunities. You will also build positive relationships with faculty, staff, and student leaders. Additionally, you will manage the budget for student involvement activities to ensure efficient resource use and financial accountability.

In this role, you will develop programs that empower students to assume leadership roles within the university and prepare them for future career success. Responsibilities include the promotion of diversity and inclusion across all student involvement activities to ensure programs are accessible to everyone, the development of metrics and assessment tools to measure the impact of student involvement programs, and the use of data-driven insights to enhance student experiences. Effective communication with students through various channels to promote upcoming events, opportunities, and resources related to student involvement is required. Among other duties, you will ensure that all student involvement activities and initiatives comply with university policies and regulations.

This position participates in on-call rotations, responds to emergencies, and provides guidance in crises. They are identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of student development theory and best practices for engagement. They possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as visionary leadership and strategic thinking. The candidate is stays informed about current trends in student involvement and campus programming. They are committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.

Minimum qualifications: 

  • A master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, or a related field
  • At least three years of progressive experience in student affairs, including demonstrated leadership in student involvement, campus programming, or related functional areas
  • Experience in budget management

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license

Travel required:

  • 10-20%

Work hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
