We support multiple clients nationwide through a team-based consulting model that combines experienced HR professionals, scalable processes, and smart use of technology to deliver responsive, high-quality service. As the owner of Skillcloud's own employee experience, this leader will build and scale the HR infrastructure of a fast-growing organization - establishing policies and standard operating procedures, optimizing our HRIS, coordinating internal recruiting, and designing onboarding, offboarding, career development, and organizational development programs.
Why Join Skillcloud
At Skillcloud, you will have the opportunity to help shape a growing, technology-forward HR services business. This role offers meaningful leadership scope and the ability to influence how internal services are built and delivered.
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director will help shape internal people strategy, strengthen culture, and ensure that Skillcloud's own HR practices reflect the same excellence we deliver to our clients.
Benefits:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with Employer-sponsored life insurance
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan with Company match
  • Flexible paid time off with a responsible-use approach that supports work-life balance
  • Ongoing professional development and growth opportunities
  • Full time hours with a hybrid work schedule in our Boston based office
  • Exempt salary between $145-$165k

What You'll Do:
  • Define and execute the internal people strategy in alignment with Skillcloud's growth objectives. Build scalable HR infrastructure and lead the internal HR function across all departments, partnering closely with the CHRO and department leaders.
  • Own all internal HR policies, standard operating procedures, and the employee handbook. Ensure consistent, well-documented processes and full compliance with federal, state, and multi-state employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Own the configuration, data integrity, and optimization of internal HRIS/HCM systems. Leverage automation, analytics, and reporting to drive informed people decisions and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate internal recruiting across all departments - partnering with hiring managers on workforce needs, hiring processes, candidate experience, and employer brand to attract and secure top talent.
  • Design and operate consistent, high-quality onboarding and offboarding experiences that set new hires up for success and manage transitions professionally and compliantly.
  • Build career-pathing, performance management, learning and development, and internal mobility programs that grow talent and strengthen retention across the organization.
  • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, change management, and leadership development to support Skillcloud's continued growth and evolving structure.
  • Champion company culture, employee engagement, recognition, and internal communications. Use engagement data and feedback to strengthen retention and the overall employee experience.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CHRO and executive team on complex people matters, providing strategic recommendations that align HR with business goals.

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree a plus.
  • Senior HR certification such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred.
  • Must be willing to obtain an HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR) within the first 12 months of employment, if not already held.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4-5 years in an HR leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling HR functions within high-growth organizations.
  • Strong expertise in HRIS/HCM platforms, people analytics, and HR systems optimization.
  • Broad command of HR operations: policy and SOP development, talent acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, performance, career development, and organizational development.
  • Working knowledge of multi-state employment law and compliance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to partner with and advise senior leaders and drive organizational change.
  • Strategic mindset paired with a hands-on, builder orientation, comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • High standard for data quality, documentation, and confidentiality (HIPAA/PHI handling awareness).
