Job description

Summary:
The Market Director of Catering Sales will direct the catering effort as described in the annual asset maximization and hotel business plan. Responsible for leading and generating top line catering revenue to exceed budget expectations. Work closely with Operations and the sales team to develop and implement an effective catering business plan.
Responsibilities:
Will build rapport with clients, qualify their needs, sell the appropriate hotel to serve their needs, book the business in the Sales and Catering systems, and confirm the sale with contracts. They will prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance. This person will ensure that operations and event management has all the information needed to adequately service the group. Lead and participate in daily business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required. Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers. Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings. Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Interested candidates must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, a professional demeanor, and positive attitude. This job will require mastery of the reactive and proactive sales process. This will include qualifying group leads and closing the business, finding new business through prospecting efforts, and growing current producing accounts. Candidates should possess a 4-year degree in business or equivalent hotel experience including one year of sales experience.
