Position Overview
The Director of Ecommerce is a people-first leader who manages and develops Avenue Z's CRO team. This Miami-based, in-office role is a senior, client-facing leadership role focused on building a high-performing team that delivers best-in-class ecommerce and CRO execution for our clients.
The Director focuses on setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback and mentorship, and ensuring the team is resourced, supported, and accountable. They translate strategic roadmaps created by the team into clear priorities, coaching team members to deliver high-quality work and grow in their roles. Ultimately, the Director is accountable for client satisfaction, success, and retention through the strength and performance of the team they lead.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing CRO and ecommerce team across Design, Development, and Project Management.
  • Establish clear goals, expectations, and success metrics for team members aligned to client roadmaps and business outcomes.
  • Provide regular, actionable feedback through 1:1s, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching to help team members grow their skills and careers.
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the CRO team.
  • Translate strategic ecommerce roadmaps into prioritized, clearly scoped work for the team, ensuring everyone understands the "why" behind the work.
  • Partner with the Project Manager to scope work tickets, allocate resources, and balance workloads across team members.
  • Review and approve key deliverables across Design and Development, providing constructive feedback and guidance to raise the quality bar.
  • Guide the team in analyzing client performance data and results, reviewing insights and recommendations and coaching team members on how to turn analysis into impactful actions.
  • Serve as the senior client-facing leader, joining weekly status and strategy meetings to represent the work of the CRO team, unblock issues, and advocate for the team.
  • Proactively identify capability gaps, training needs, and process improvements that will help the team deliver more effectively.
  • For smaller clients, oversee the creation of ecommerce strategic roadmaps while delegating execution to team members, ensuring they have the support and guidance needed to succeed.
  • Champion Avenue Z's values and ways of working, helping onboard and develop new team members on the CRO team.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in ecommerce and/or CRO within an agency or multi-brand environment.
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience leading cross-functional teams (such as CRO strategists, PMs, Designers, and Developers) in a fast-paced setting.
  • Demonstrated success building, coaching, and retaining high-performing teams, including experience giving clear, constructive feedback and managing performance.
  • Strong ability to translate strategic direction into clear priorities, processes, and expectations for a team.
  • Experience partnering closely with project management to scope work, break initiatives into tickets, and resource effectively, while keeping team health in mind.
  • Comfortable owning accountability for team performance, implementation quality, and on-time delivery through others.
  • Data-driven leader who can review performance metrics with the team and coach them on how to turn insights into effective experiments and optimizations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advocate for the team and represent their work to senior clients.
  • Based in Miami and able to work in-office in a highly collaborative environment.

Compensation

  • Annual Base Salary: $120,000 - $140,000/year + Performance Bonus
