How You Will Make History Here...

In this role, you will help make history by enabling the Legal Department to deliver high-quality legal services efficiently, consistently, and cost-effectively. As Director, Legal Operations, you will serve as a central operational partner to the Executive Vice President and General Counsel for department operations,financial management, outside counsel and vendor management, legal technology, reporting, processimprovement,and project execution. The ideal candidate will be a commercially-minded, pragmatic business partner who can translate priorities into practical operating plans, manage cross-functionalworkstreamsand use data to improve decision-making.

This is a hybrid role based in Camden, NJ.

What You Will Do...
  • Lead legal operations and department initiatives: Develop, own, and drive execution of the Legal Department's roadmap, including department planning, prioritization, project governance, process improvement, communications, knowledge management, change management, and Chief of Staff-type support for the Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

  • Manage legal technology and innovation: Oversee administration, adoption, and continuous improvement of legal technology and collaboration tools, including e-billing, document management, contract-related resources, reporting tools, and AI-enabled solutions; partner with IT and vendors on implementations, upgrades, training, and change management.

  • Oversee financial operations and reporting: Coordinate annual budget development, forecasting, legal spend reporting, accruals, reserve coordination, and other financial processes in partnership with Finance; develop practical dashboards and metrics to support timely decisions.

  • Manage outside counsel, ALSPs, and other vendors: Support high-quality, cost-effective legal services through rate negotiations, engagement terms, alternative fee arrangements, RFPs, statements of work, onboarding, performance tracking, and relationship management for outside counsel, ALSPs, and other legal vendors.

  • Improve processes, controls, and knowledge management: Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate legal work and administrative processes; develop playbooks, templates, workflows, and user guidance that improve consistency, preserve institutional knowledge, and reduce friction for attorneys and business partners.

  • Provide analytics and leadership support: Analyze matter, spend, vendor, staffing, technology, and operational data to identify trends, risks, cost-saving opportunities, and service delivery improvements; prepare concise, executive-ready materials for senior leaders and support additional Legal Department operational matters as directed.

Who You Will Work With...

You will be a member of Campbell's Legal Department and will report to Campbell's Executive Vice President and General Counsel. You will partner closely with attorneys, legal professionals, Finance, IT, Procurement, People & Culture, outside counsel, alternative legal service providers, and other business partners in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.

What You Bring to the Table... (Must Have)
  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university.

  • At least ten years of relevant experience in legal operations, corporate legal department management, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.

  • Experience working in or supporting an in-house legal department(stronglypreferred).

  • Experience managing budgets, reporting, legal technology, outside counsel, legal vendors, and alternative legal service providers.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to prepare concise, executive-ready materials.

  • Strong team player with strong interpersonal, organizational, project management, and change management skills.

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, influence without direct authority, and operate with limited supervision.

  • High degree of discretion, professionalism, judgment, and follow-through.

  • Technical literacy, including expertise in foundational legal technology and AI.

  • Legal operations experience is required; a law degree or bar admission is not required.

  • Experience working with a publicly traded company, a consumer-packaged goods company, a manufacturer, or a retailer.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$170,200-$234,100

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
