Job description

We are looking for an experienced Grants Director to support a non-profit organization in Washington, District of Columbia. This Long-term Contract position will lead the administration of grant and contract activity across government, foundation, federal, and private funding sources. The ideal candidate will bring strong oversight capabilities, compliance knowledge, and the ability to manage complex funding relationships in a mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
• Direct the full lifecycle of grants and contracts, from review and setup through monitoring, reporting, and closeout.
• Oversee compliance with funding requirements across federal, government, foundation, and private awards.
• Develop and maintain internal processes that strengthen grant administration, documentation, and contract controls.
• Partner with program, finance, and leadership teams to align funding activity with organizational goals and award conditions.
• Monitor deliverables, deadlines, and reporting obligations to ensure timely and accurate submission to funders.
• Interpret contract terms and grant guidelines, including FAR-related provisions when applicable, and advise stakeholders on requirements.
• Track funding performance and identify risks related to budget usage, compliance exposure, or contractual obligations.
• Support audits, funder reviews, and internal assessments by maintaining organized records and responding to information requests.• Proven experience managing grants and contracts within a non-profit, public sector, or similarly regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of government, federal, foundation, and private grant administration practices.
• Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements and contract compliance principles.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple funding sources with accuracy, organization, and attention to deadlines.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams on grant oversight, reporting, and compliance activities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal leaders and external funding partners.
• Strong analytical judgment with the ability to identify issues, interpret requirements, and recommend practical solutions.
