The team you will be a part of
The Communications General team works on internal and external communications projects, including web site and intranet creation, management of media, public relations and press releases. Assists with the implementation of a strategic communications program to help build brand image.
This role in summary
Whirlpool Corporation is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Manager, Executive & Strategic Communications position located at our Riverview Campus in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This role will be expected to drive sustainable business outcomes through effective strategic, change, executive, and employee communications efforts and will report to the Director, NAR Communications, and will have accountability for working directly with our NAR Leadership Team. #LI-DD1
This role is an onsite, in-office role, Monday through Friday. A comprehensive relocation package is available for eligible candidates.
Your responsibilities will include
  • Understanding stakeholders, communication, and change needs to shape a plan for connecting our employees to a common purpose, vision, strategy, and key priorities.
  • Work with senior leaders, peers, and cross-functional business partners to develop and deliver measurable change and communication solutions aligned with Whirlpool's strategic objectives.
  • Develop necessary partnerships globally with senior leaders, peers, and project team members to achieve strategy and outcomes. Establish and maintain effective communication channels with the key teams, Whirlpool stakeholders, and others (vendors, partners, etc.) to ensure successful implementation.
  • Coordinate and develop executive-level presentations/messaging for town halls as well as Whirlpool Corporation's Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate and develop executive-level presentations/messaging for town halls as well as Whirlpool Corporation's North America leadership team.
  • Create and deliver innovative, two-way communication solutions that drive better alignment, understanding, adoption and dialog within the organization. Leverage various technologies and communication vehicles.
  • Develop partnerships globally to achieve strategy and outcomes. Work with Whirlpool Subject Matter Experts and other 3rd party vendors to direct change management, communication and training plans for new processes or technologies as required.
  • Measure the success of change interventions and drive action to sustain change by analyzing and interpreting employee data and feedback.

Minimum requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 8+ years of communications experience.
  • 5+ years of experience focused on developing and executing successful internal and executive communication strategies.

Preferred skills and experiences
  • Direct people leadership experience, leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, time-critical deadlines and highly sensitive confidential projects while navigating ambiguity and turbulence.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, ability to distill complex and technical content to wider audiences. History of ghostwriting for a variety of leaders on a variety of platforms (articles, blogs, leader messages, talking points, video scripts, etc).
  • Experience with change management methodologies and best practices.
  • Strong experience working directly with senior leaders and ability to lead through influence.
  • Balance of strategic thinking (strategic planning with ability to connect dots to a bigger picture) with actual execution of tactics. Must be willing to roll up sleeves and do the work.
  • Proactive and problem-solving mindset with ability to anticipate and plan for senior leaders' needs before they arise.
