About the Role
Direct Counsel is partnering with a leading Am Law firm to identify an experienced Of Counsel attorney to join its Litigation practice, with a focus on high-stakes product liability matters involving pharmaceutical and medical device clients. This role is ideal for a seasoned litigator with deep expertise in Daubert and Rule 702 motion practice and a strong scientific background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and review complex briefs, motions, and memoranda, including Daubert and Rule 702 motions
  • Manage and respond to discovery, including drafting responses and overseeing strategy
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses and assist in expert development and testimony preparation
  • Support depositions, fact development, and overall case strategy
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide strategic legal guidance
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and associates

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of litigation experience, preferably at an Am Law 100 firm
  • Extensive experience with products liability litigation
  • Demonstrated expertise in Daubert and Rule 702 motion practice
  • Experience in pharmaceutical and/or medical device litigation strongly preferred
  • Strong academic credentials

Required Background

  • Advanced scientific or medical background required (e.g., MD, MPH, PharmD, or Epidemiology)
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and research skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage complex matters in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active bar admission in the jurisdiction of practice (New York licensure is a plus)

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work model with a combination of in-office and remote flexibility

Compensation & Benefits
