Director Conversion Rate Optimization information

How does the Director of Conversion Rate Optimization typically collaborate with marketing and product teams to drive results?

The Director of Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) works closely with both marketing and product teams to identify user pain points, implement data-driven strategies, and test hypotheses aimed at improving conversion rates. Regular meetings and cross-functional workshops are common to align on campaign goals, user experience enhancements, and A/B testing roadmaps. This role often acts as a bridge between creative strategists and technical analysts, ensuring that initiatives are both innovative and measurable, and that learnings are shared across teams to maximize impact.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Director of Conversion Rate Optimization, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Director of Conversion Rate Optimization, you need expertise in data analysis, digital marketing strategies, and user experience design, typically supported by a relevant degree and significant experience in CRO roles. Familiarity with A/B testing platforms (like Optimizely or VWO), web analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), and CRO-focused certifications is highly beneficial. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help drive cross-functional initiatives and foster team collaboration. These skills are crucial for developing data-driven strategies that maximize website performance and achieve business growth targets.

What does a Director of Conversion Rate Optimization do?

A Director of Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) is responsible for developing and overseeing strategies to increase the percentage of website visitors who take a desired action, such as making a purchase or signing up for a newsletter. They lead teams to analyze user behavior, run A/B tests, and implement changes that improve user experience and drive business goals. This role involves close collaboration with marketing, product, and design teams to ensure that all digital touchpoints are optimized for conversions. The Director of CRO also uses data-driven insights to guide decision-making and measure the effectiveness of optimization efforts.

We are making major investments in the company's growth, and as such, are looking to bring in a Director of Sales and Support to play a pivotal leadership role in building out our commercial organization.
Position Overview
The Director of Sales and Support will be a true builder - someone who comes in with a strong point of view, a proven network, and the leadership chops to create //TECHYSCOUTS' new Account Management department from the ground up. This leader will oversee both outbound sales efforts and an account-based strategy to drive revenue and retention from our existing client base. The right candidate will bring deep agency roots, proven consultative selling skills, and established relationships with SMBs in need of digital support and marketing services. This is a unique opportunity to define the commercial DNA of a high-growth agency and shape it for years to come.
Key Responsibilities

2. Lead and grow a team of aggressively sales-focused Account Managers who serve as the primary point of contact for clients across all significant needs - taking a strategic, consultative approach to both service delivery and revenue generation.
3. Drive outbound sales efforts to acquire new e-commerce and SMB clients, leveraging your existing network and developing new pipeline through referral partnerships, events, and direct outreach.

5. Lead company-wide training initiatives to align //TECHYSCOUTS staff with the new sales and service model, fostering a unified commercial culture across the organization.
6. Collaborate closely with leadership on a new vertical-focused marketing plan designed to generate inbound leads and provide the credibility needed to support the Account Management team's sales efforts in the field.

8. Represent //TECHYSCOUTS at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities; support and potentially lead event-based sales and marketing initiatives.
9. Work cross-functionally with our delivery, product, and marketing teams to ensure client success and create feedback loops that improve our offerings.
10. Contribute to the development and execution of innovative sales campaigns, including contests, raffles, sweepstakes, and performance-based outreach initiatives.
11. Monitor sales performance metrics, pipeline health, and client retention KPIs; report regularly to the COO and leadership team with clear insights and action plans.
Requirements
Qualifications
1. 10+ years of experience in sales, account management, or business development, including at least 3-5 years in an agency environment.
2. Proven track record of building and leading high-performance sales or account management teams, ideally in a high-growth agency or digital services company.
3. Deep, established network of SMB relationships in need of digital marketing, web development, SEO, paid media, or CRO services.
4. Broad and current knowledge of the digital marketing landscape, including web development, SEO, paid media, and conversion rate optimization.
5. Experience in selling digital marketing services.
6. Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to recruit, develop, and retain top commercial talent.
7. Entrepreneurial mindset - comfortable with ambiguity, energized by building something new, and capable of operating with minimal infrastructure and bureaucratic bloat.
8. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent //TECHYSCOUTS credibly to senior stakeholders at client organizations.
9. Experience managing remote teams and thriving in a distributed work environment.
10. Only Los Angeles-based candidates with the legal ability to work in the US can be considered at this time.

2. Experience in business development and channel partnerships.
3. An existing network of sales and service professionals who could be hired as the department grows.
4. Established referral partner networks (agencies, consultants, platforms, integrators).
5. Experience leading event-based sales, webinars, speaking panels and thought leadership.
6. Track record with innovative sales and marketing campaigns including raffles, sweepstakes, contests, or other high-engagement outreach programs.
