Job description

Director of E-Commerce

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Director of E-Commerce to lead and scale performance across their Shopify DTC business. This role will own the full end-to-end digital customer experience, with a strong focus on UX/UI, merchandising, and conversion rate optimization (CRO).

The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on — someone who has deep expertise operating within Shopify environments and a proven ability to drive measurable growth through site optimization, customer journey improvements, and data-driven merchandising strategies. This person will serve as the internal subject matter expert for UX, UI, and CRO, leading initiatives that improve conversion, average order value (AOV), and customer lifetime value (LTV).

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing the e-commerce function while remaining deeply involved in execution and site performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and optimize the complete Shopify site experience, including UX/UI, merchandising, navigation, and CRO strategy
  • Serve as the internal expert on customer journey optimization, conversion-focused design, and Shopify best practices
  • Lead the strategy, development, and ongoing optimization of landing pages, PDPs, PLPs, and digital merchandising experiences
  • Drive improvements in conversion rate, AOV, and LTV through testing, personalization, bundling, upsell strategies, and site enhancements
  • Develop merchandising strategies that improve product discovery, customer engagement, and on-site conversion
  • Analyze site behavior and performance data using Google Analytics and other reporting tools to identify opportunities and inform decision-making
  • Partner cross-functionally with CRM, retention, growth, and creative teams to ensure alignment between marketing campaigns and on-site experiences
  • Build and optimize landing pages for paid media, affiliate, and partner traffic sources
  • Manage and mentor the e-commerce team while maintaining hands-on ownership of execution and site updates
  • Establish project priorities, timelines, workflows, and quality standards for all site-related initiatives
  • Take full ownership of site performance, proactively identifying issues and driving solutions through completion
  • Maintain a high standard of brand presentation, functionality, and user experience across all digital touchpoints
  • Continuously test and refine layouts, messaging, navigation, and product presentation to improve overall site performance

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of e-commerce experience, with a strong emphasis on Shopify DTC businesses
  • Proven success managing Shopify for a high-growth DTC or CPG brand
  • Strong proficiency in Shopify, Klaviyo, Google Analytics, and related e-commerce tools
  • Deep expertise in UX/UI and conversion rate optimization, with a demonstrated track record of improving site performance metrics
  • Hands-on experience creating or optimizing landing pages, PDPs, PLPs, and merchandising experiences
  • Strong understanding of customer behavior, conversion strategy, and digital merchandising best practices
  • Experience within the CPG industry required; experience in supplements, wellness, or natural/organic products strongly preferred
  • Prior experience managing and developing teams while remaining execution-oriented and detail-focused
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
  • Highly organized with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Strong ownership mentality with a proactive, results-driven approach

Compensation: $125,000–$140,000, depending on experience.
