Job description

About Saint Peter’s University

Saint Peter’s is one of 27 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States. Established in 1872, the University blends a unique learning experience shaped by rigorous academics, internships that provide real-world experience, community service, and a genuine, caring community that supports alumni long after graduation. Saint Peter’s offers more than 50 undergraduate majors as well as master’s level and doctorate programs.

Job Summary:

Rooted in Saint Peter's Jesuit, Catholic identity and commitment to cura personalis (care for the whole person), the Assistant Director for International Admissions and Student Services manages the operational life-cycle and federal compliance for the university's international student population. Housed within our tight-knit campus community, this role blends specialized administrative expertise with mission-driven student advocacy.

The successful candidate will serve as a Designated School Official (DSO), overseeing SEVIS compliance and I-20 issuance, while managing the holistic processing, evaluation, and operational workflow of all international applications. While this position coordinates localized yield strategies, the primary focus is ensuring seamless administrative onboarding, regulatory compliance, and holistic support for our global scholars.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. SEVIS Compliance & DSO Administration (40%)

  • Serve as a university Designated School Official (DO), maintaining absolute compliance with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) regulations.

  • Review financial documentation and issue Forms I-20 for initial and transfer international students.

  • Manage and maintain accurate student records within the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), monitoring enrollment status, extensions, transfers, and practical training (OPT/CT) authorizations.

  • Act as the primary administrative resource for international students regarding immigration regulations, visa maintenance, and federal compliance.

2. International Admissions Operations & Credential Evaluation (35%)

  • Oversee the administrative workflow and holistic review of all undergraduate (and/or graduate) international applications within the university's CRM (Slate).

  • Conduct expert evaluation of foreign academic credentials, transcripts, secondary school grading systems, and English language proficiency exam scores (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo).

  • Manage communication workflows for international applicants, ensuring missing documents are tracked efficiently and applicants are updated clearly on their status.

  • Coordinate with the Financial Aid office to process international merit scholarships and institutional aid awards.

  • Compile, analyze, and present enrollment data reports regarding international application trends, yield rates, and retention data.

3. Strategic Yield & Targeted Engagement (15%)

  • Develop and execute targeted digital engagement strategies (webinars, virtual drop-in hours, email campaigns) to convert admitted international students to enrolled students.

  • Build and maintain administrative relationships with localized international sponsors, embassies, and select global high school counselors.

  • Coordinate high-touch outreach to international families, providing clear administrative guidance on the enrollment process, housing, and tuition payment logistics.

Note: Travel for this position is minimal and highly targeted (0-2 weeks annually), focusing heavily on virtual and localized engagement.

4. Holistic Student Onboarding & Campus Integration (10%)

  • Partner with Student Affairs, Campus Ministry, and Academic Advising to ensure a smooth transition from visa approval to campus life.

  • Co-lead specialized international student orientation programs, welcoming students into our Jesuit campus community in a spirit of radical hospitality.

  • Support ongoing international student programming that fosters intercultural awareness, equity, and inclusion across campus.
