Job description

Julie House is a religious retirement community for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Care and compassion for our resident Sisters are at the heart of everything we do—within a truly beautiful and nurturing workplace. The part-time Resident Care Attendant tend to the day-to-day needs of the sisters, including light housekeeping, medication assistance, and dining room oversight- setting of tables, clearing tables, and loading the dishwasher, etc.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Resident Care Attendant must be able to work with others, showing patience, discretion, and good judgment. While being a presence to the resident sisters and assisting them in their needs; she/he must have a pleasant manner and be willing to perform simple repetitive tasks and to accept supervision and constructive criticism. She/he must take self-initiative in taking care of basic household tasks. The attendant must be able to respond appropriately in case of emergency, keeping a calm demeanor and acting according to protocol.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALITIES:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care services to residents in a professional, caring, and efficient manner offering comfort and support, both emotionally and physically according to schedules established by Director of Resident Care
  • After passing the medication administration test, attendant will administer medications according to physicians’ orders
  • Inform DRC of all clinical issues related to the well-being of each resident. Effectively communicate changes in resident status to DRC or Administrator
  • Maintain accurate resident records, including all necessary and required documentation related to the resident, as needed communicate all relevant information to DRC
  • Develop positive working relationships between residents and staff
  • Maintain a professional environment and projects a calm and competent image
  • Follows established home standards, policies, procedures, and precautions in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment for self and others; have a complete understanding of emergency procedures
  • Maintains current Medication Administration Certification.
  • Perform additional assigned duties, at the direction of the DRC or Administrator
  • Basic household tasks: laundry, supplies, general cleaning

  • Contribute to a climate where hospitality, compassion and mutual support are expressed to those who serve and those being served
  • Assist and collaborate with co-workers as time permits or when requested by Supervisor. Show respect for colleagues in all interactions
  • Familiar and compliant with all Administrative and Nursing policies and procedures focused on resident safety, such as “Abuse Prevention and Intervention” and “Incident Reporting”
  • Follow the principles of Resident Rights and Resident Privacy; always shown by respecting residents and supporting their dignity
  • Abide by the HIPAA regulations by respecting the privacy and confidentiality of the Sisters at all times. If uncertain about how to proceed, refer all issues to the DRC or Administrator
  • Complete all required staff education programs and health requirements
  • Respect the physical environment of the Julie House Residential Care Center and report any accidents/repairs needed promptly to the DRC
