Lead One of Metro Detroit's Premier Hotel Beverage Operations
Harper Associates has partnered with a premier full-service luxury hotel in the Detroit area to recruit an experienced Beverage Director to oversee a dynamic, high-volume, multi-unit beverage operation.
This executive leadership position is responsible for beverage operations across multiple restaurants and bars, extensive banquet and catering facilities, live entertainment venues, lounges, and hotel events. If you're a strategic hospitality leader with a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences while driving financial performance, this is an outstanding opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for all beverage operations across multiple hotel outlets
  • Oversee bars, lounges, banquet beverage service, special events, and entertainment venues
  • Develop innovative cocktail, wine, beer, and spirits programs that drive guest satisfaction and revenue growth
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop bar managers, beverage managers, bartenders, and service teams
  • Manage beverage purchasing, inventory, vendor relationships, and supplier negotiations
  • Drive profitability through effective beverage cost control, pricing strategy, labor management, and inventory management
  • Ensure consistent execution of luxury hospitality service standards across every outlet
  • Partner with Culinary, Banquets, Catering, Sales, Marketing, and Hotel Operations to execute weddings, conventions, galas, corporate events, concerts, and VIP experiences
  • Maintain compliance with all liquor laws, health regulations, safety standards, and responsible alcohol service requirements
  • Analyze financial performance, beverage sales, labor metrics, and operational KPIs to maximize profitability

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience as a Beverage Director, Director of Beverage, Beverage Manager, Food & Beverage Director, or Multi-Unit Beverage Manager
  • Luxury hotel, resort, casino, convention hotel, or large-scale hospitality experience strongly preferred
  • Proven success managing multiple bars and high-volume banquet beverage operations
  • Strong knowledge of wine, spirits, craft cocktails, beer, mixology, beverage trends, and menu development
  • Experience with inventory control, purchasing, beverage costing, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management
  • Demonstrated success leading, developing, and retaining high-performing, large hospitality teams
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Sommelier certification, WSET, BarSmarts, or similar beverage certifications are a plus
