Job description

Amazon Robotics is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Hardware Development Engineering team, focused on sustaining and evolving the electronics that power our robotic fleet. The ideal candidate combines strong electrical engineering fundamentals-analog/digital circuit design, PCB layout, and embedded systems-with a passion for sustaining engineering: keeping production systems healthy through component qualification, second-source development, and supply chain problem-solving. You will work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and field engineering teams to ensure our robots remain reliable, manufacturable, and resilient to component disruptions.

This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Senior Manager.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive component qualification and second-source development to mitigate supply chain risks across the robotic product portfolio
- Investigate and resolve field issues on production electronics, performing root-cause analysis and implementing corrective design changes
- Own schematic and PCB design activities for sustaining engineering changes (ECOs), from concept through validation and release to manufacturing
- Partner with supply chain, commodity management, and contract manufacturers to evaluate alternate components and ensure design-for-supply resilience
- Develop and execute design verification and qualification test plans for component and board-level changes
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities as needed, contributing to DFM/DFT reviews and production ramp
- Maintain documentation including specifications, test procedures, and qualification reports
- Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, reliability, and field engineering teams to keep the robotic fleet running
A day in the life
You might start the morning reviewing a component end-of-life notice, assessing impact across affected boards, and kicking off a second-source qualification plan. After a stand-up with the sustaining team, you dive into schematic changes for an alternate part, coordinate a test plan with the validation lab, and sync with the contract manufacturer on an open quality issue from the production line. You close the day triaging a field return with the reliability team, using failure analysis data to determine whether a design change is warranted

No two days are the same-but the throughline is keeping our fleet healthy and our supply chain ahead of disruptions.
Amazon offers a full range of benefits that support you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children. 1

Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
2. Maternity and Parental Leave Options
3. Paid Time Off (PTO)
4.

401(k) Plan
If you are not sure that every qualification on the list above describes you exactly, we'd still love to hear from you. At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you're passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply!
About the team
The Amazon Robotics Electrical Engineering team designs, develops, and sustains the electronic systems that enable our fulfillment center robots.

We operate at the intersection of product development and production support-shipping new designs while keeping a massive, globally deployed fleet running. We value engineers who are equally comfortable debugging a prototype on the bench and driving a component change through qualification and release.
