POSITION SUMMARY

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Director Electrical Engineering to lead and mature a centralized Center of Excellence that supports Axiom's complex humanspaceflight programs.

The Director of Electrical Engineering establishes unified standards, processes, and best practices that elevate technical rigor, strengthen crossprogram collaboration, and ensure consistent delivery of highquality, humanrated electrical and avionics systems. They lead multidisciplinary teams across the full engineering lifecycle while ensuring strict compliance with NASA standards, humanrated requirements, and mission assurance expectations. The role is accountable for scaling electrical engineering capabilities across multiple spacecraft and spaceinfrastructure programs, optimizing resources, and driving organizational knowledge sharing. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in spacecraft electrical systems, power systems, avionics, communication architectures, and safetycritical electronics, and partners closely with NASA, commercial customers, and industry stakeholders to deliver missioncritical solutions. This position blends strategic leadership with handson technical insight to advance a worldclass electrical engineering organization capable of supporting a complex, multimission portfolio.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and develop the Electrical Engineering organization, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance.
  • Build and mentor a strong leadership bench, ensuring effective coaching, career development, and succession planning.
  • Set the strategic vision for the Electrical Engineering Center of Excellence aligned with company and program objectives.
  • Establish and enforce unified engineering standards, processes, and best practices across all electrical engineering teams.
  • Champion engineering governance, design assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all electrical systems and flight hardware comply with industries standards, program requirements, and mission assurance expectations.
  • Oversee the full electrical engineering lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, design, analysis, integration, verification, validation, and certification.
  • Provide technical oversight and decision authority for complex electrical designs, avionics architectures, power systems, communications, and integrated spacecraft electronics.
  • Drive crossprogram coordination to optimize resources, scalability, and organizational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with NASA centers, commercial clients, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver missioncritical electrical and avionics solutions.
  • Promote adoption of advanced tools, digital engineering methods, and modelbased approaches to enhance engineering efficiency and product quality.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline required.
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in an engineering field preferred, particularly with aerospace or humanspaceflight relevance.
  • 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience within aerospace, spacecraft, or humanrated systems.
  • 8+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing managers and large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering organizations in complex, fastpaced, missiondriven environments.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement engineering standards, processes, and governance frameworks.
  • Extensive experience working with NASA programs, standards, and humanrated system requirements.
  • Direct involvement in full lifecycle development of electrical flight hardware-from concept through certification and mission readiness.
  • Experience driving crossprogram alignment, resource planning, and organizational scaling within a centralized engineering structure.
  • Strong background collaborating with government agencies, highprofile customers, and industry partners on missioncritical systems
